Dear FORUM,

Re: Rajahmundry: AIDS patient commits suicide in the hospital. This episode

states that AIDS patients start taking exessive amount of alcohol because no

proper support is given from the friends and family members.

Ultimately they land up taking poisonous substance in alcohol. Counsellors and

health care providers must look out for symptoms of alcohol and other substance

abuse.

Proper Psychateric care is must for these pateints.

Dear Forum,

It is really sad to learn that AIDS patients becoming impatience and

taking extreme steps.It will have negative repercussions for all other

patients.The cause needs to be find out.They may be the victims of

improper supervision,bad information,poor communication,uncomfortable

environment and unhealthy atmosphere.

The situation indicates that the role of a counsellor is very important and all

should introspect on this.The counsellor deals with emotions and mental status

of the patients.The present need is that counsellor should go through extensive

trainings.More skilled and professional counsellors are required who are

excelling in their profession.

Counsellor are the persons who get in touch with the patients for most

of the time.They can shape the lives of the patients.Counsellor should

pay full attention,understand the situation,feel the emotions and

establish the effective conversation with the patients.

The relationship with the patients needs to be comfortable and healthy. The

patients should be spiritually uplifted. An effective follow up with good

communication skill are needed.

Counsellor's attitude and scarificing nature that really counts. After all,a ray

of hope must be seen in the counsellors. It is a great challenge,counsellors

should go through this
