Guest guest
Dear Crew, Thank heavens for you! - for being a place where you can share concerns - not so eaily shared with others! I am a very young 61 and have had 1 acoustic removed 4 years ago, rendering me deaf in that ear. I had radiation treatment this June to control the growth of the acoustic on the other side, which seems to be unsuccessful - since my hearing has continued to go down. My hearing has become such that even with an amplified phone and I cannot hear some people on the phone - though I can manage with others. This for me, seems to indicate that I don't have much longer in the hearing world. The question I pose to the crew is how to prepare for being deaf - practical things like equipment. The only " equipment " I have now are the phone amplifiers and my FM system which I rely on heavily for conversations with people. I am going soon to see about phone flashers and doorbell whatever they are. Barbara B., NYC
