I love TT and find their prices very reasonable when

they have a sale.

Woah! I didn't even check if they had coconut oil last time I ordered

from them....that site just gets better and better. The herbs are so

fresh and such good prices too! A very trustworthy place IMO. I have

ordered almost $300 worth of stuff from them in the last few months.

Just have to say ditto to Mountain Rose. I had earlier bought organic

coconut oil from another supplier - $89 a gallon! I could see no difference

between that supplier's and Mountain Rose's. I have a small business making

soap and lotion, and I've started ordering most of my supplies from them.

Look over all of their stuff - they have organic essential oils and carrier

oils, and their catalog of herbs and teas is fantastic.

Thanks, everyone! The Mountain Rose coconut oil looks like an amazing

deal at that price, and it looks to be very high quality. Probably not

the tip-top but at that price, I'm buying.

Yes, the Philippines. That is the unrefined organic coconut oil. The

refined does not list a country of origin.

,

Do you know the origin of the Mountain Rose Coconut oil?

I buy from coconutoil-online and get the coconut Oil Supreme. It is

put through a centrifuge process. It's a Premium Virgin Oil. This

process produces oil with the least amount of processing so that the

natural vitamin E, antioxidants and fresh coconut " essence " are

retained. Fresh coconut meat is grated and expeller pressed to produce

coconut milk. The coconut milk is then centrifuged using a proprietary

process to separate the oil from the other components. This oil has a

very light texture and since no heat at all is applied it retains all

the flavor and scent of fresh coconut. This premium oil is available

in the U.S.A. under the trade name Coconut Oil Supremeā„¢ . To the best

of our knowledge, among the " virgin " coconut oils, this is the only

organic oil which is produced under strict hygienic conditions. The

facility producing this oil is ISO certified, HACCP certified and

the oil is produced in a Kosher-certified facility. (Lauric acid

content and fatty acid composition.) This oil has such a light and

delicate flavor and aroma that you can literally eat it by the spoonful.

I have used the Tropical Tradition before and I think this stuff is

the best I have used. have any of you used it before?

I have used both coconutoil-online and tropical traditions. I like them

both but the coconutoil-online is

A little milder in flavor.

This from mountainroseherbs.com:

Botanical Name- Cocos nucifera

Origin- Philippines

Extraction- Unrefined

Shelf life- 2 years

Kosher Certified- Yes

Notes- Will melt at 76 degrees and turn to liquid. This particular oil is

" Virgin " unrefined and has a pleasant and enticing coconut aroma. If blended

within

skin care preparations at a high percentage, it may alter the scent of the

final product. Suitable for both food and cosmetic use.

This grade of Coconut oil is the same variety sold in natural food stores.

Method Of Extraction

Fresh, whole coconuts that are sound and ripe are shelled and then pared to

remove the brown skin. The white meat is then milled

to fine shreds and dried at a temperature of not more than 100 degrees for

an average of 2 hours and 30 minutes.

After drying, the milled coconut is passed through a customized, cold

process oil press where the oil is separated from the coconut

at a controlled temperature of less than 100 degrees. The oil is collected

in a receiving pan and pumped through a series of filter cloths,

which results in a water clear coconut oil, known commercially as Virgin

Coconut Oil.

The filtered virgin coconut oil is temporarily stored in a tank and made to

pass through a final filter to remove any detritus left over before it is

packed into its final drum.
