Guest guest
Hi Gang! You all know that we have an assortment of animals, big, small, flying, walking, galloping, edible, marketable, and some just lovable. Well the USDA wants to put into effect something that will make keeping all these critters impossible. They want me to microchip or tag every last one, right down to the last chicken, so they can track them. Sound crazy? I think so. I'm asking you to please go to http://new.petitiononline.com/nousaip/petition.html and sign the petition. If you need more information the http://www.stopanimalid.org/ will help as will the USDA site, just put NAIS in the search and you'll find all sorts of info. Should this become law it will mean my being unable to afford to raise my own meat. Our chickens keep us in eggs and meat by my being able to sell the eggs as well as the unwanted birds. A tag for each bird would run about $9 per bird, I get $5 for them when they sell...see my problem? At that rate do you think anyone other than the big guys will be able to provide meat for the table? If this goes into effect the paperwork will kill me. To notify them every time one of the animals leaves the property means constant phone calls or letters (I'm unsure how this notification is to take place). Imagine the horse owner who wants to go for a ride or a camping trip, you'll have to notify the USDA before you go. The Amish? What will they do? How will they notify the USDA before they take the horse and buggy out? Don't just sit there thinking that it's impossible, it's not. Do me a favor and write to your politicians (you can find out who they are at www.vote-smart.org). Tell them you have a friend who just isn't going to make it if they change the rules like this. Tell them sticking tags in chickens isn't going to make the chickens any safer to eat. Tell them this is supposed to be the " land of the free " . Tell them this is going too far! Thanks, Belinda PS: In case you didn't' t figure it out, I'm really ticked off about this and it's probably not the last time you'll hear from me.
