OCD and " head noise " are classic symptoms. Public awareness of this area of medicine is very low, but such problems are usually related to food chemicals, and are very common. I find that with me " noise " is particularly related to consumption of excitatory neurotransmitters in foods, like tyramine and glutamates, tyramine especially when heart pounding/palpatations are involved. For me OCD is related to consumption of serotonin containing foods. Anyway, there are a whole raft of food chemicals - artificial and natural - to which you could be reacting. If you're interested in finding out more, visit the links marked " food intolerance " down the left hand side of my blog: http://wisewitch.blogspot.com/ Emma Emma, I know you don't aspire to Walsh's research through the Pfeiffer Clinic for not having done any peer reviewed studies. Are you familiar with Braverman M.D., author of The Edge Effect? www.pathmedical.com or www.edgeeffect.org He was Chief Clinical Researcher at Dr. Carl Pfeiffer's Princeton Brain Bio Center. In The Edge Effect OCD is found most with the serotonin nature, needing tryptophan foods. Glutamic acid, glutamate foods produce GABA for the GABA nature. Tyrosine, phenylalanine foods produce dopamine needed by dopamine nature. Acetylcholine nature requires choline foods.
