Guest guest
By Law for some strange reason, a Potassium suplement can not contain more then 99 mg of Potassium per pill...why I dont know, so this is the law... You would be better of getting your Potassium from Avos, Bananas and dates which are high in Potassium. If you want a high amount of potassium, get a Potassium Salt, which is the same as table salt but with Potassium rather then Sodium. You can buy from health shops, Potassium Chloride salt, which must be food grade..sprinkle a small pinch on your salad.. But also which is more important for hypertension, you must reduce your sodium intake. Sodium , salt, is in all processed foods, and we generally exceed the 2.5gm rda for sodium by at least 2x. Cut down on your Soidum intake, and increase your Pottasium intake..that should help --- In , " sharflin " <sharflin@...> wrote: > > Hi, My doctor put me on E-lyte Potassium drops which have 40 mg > potassium phosphate. Guest guest
Thanks, I didn't realize molasses was so high. > > If you do need potassium for some reason, molasses, fruit, or whole > grains would certainly be more reasonable than a pill...especially if > it only gives you a few % of the RDA. Guest guest
Very interesting about the law. I didn't know that. Yes, I am certainly working to increase my potassium from food. I don't eat processed salt but do eat whole, unprocessed sea salt. I think unprocessed whole salt is very important for good health. Thanks, Sharon > By Law for some strange reason, a Potassium suplement can not contain > more then 99 mg of Potassium per pill...why I dont know, so this is the > law... > You would be better of getting your Potassium from Avos, Bananas and > dates which are high in Potassium. Very high potassium levels can cause heart beat irregularities or heart attack. It is virtually impossible to get a high enough level to do that unless you have severe kidney problems, or take mega-mega-doses of potassium supplements. The regulation that keeps K supplements at a ridiculusly low level are aimed at preventing heart attacks from accidental supplement over load.
