Guest guest
Oh, , you are a life saver ! Yes, your information is very, very helpful. I finally feel like I can move forward with pulling together my home-pharmacy for sure. Thank you very, very much ! Angel Re: tinctures, extracts, powderes, capsules OR loose leaf herbs for Posted by: " lstafford " l.stafford@... aberaeron72 Wed Sep 20, 2006 5:46 am (PST) I use herbs a lot. Tinctures are not as concentrated as liquid extracts. Usually they are 1 part herb to five of alcohol. Extracts are 1 part of each. Thus with tinctures the dose is usually a teaspoon (depending on the herb) whereas with extracts it is drops. The advantage of tinctures and extracts is that with some herbs the alcohol extracts constituents that water can't and also they keep a lot longer. The general rule is not to keep dried herbs longer than a year - and of course you don't know how long they have been in the shop. Powders lose their effectiveness even faster. I personally use tinctures mainly because there are more herbs available as tinctures then extracts and I also like to buy organic where possible hope this helps

Looks like the pastuerization and irradiation zealots are pushing this and similar events to scare the public into supporting them. By their logic, however, we should all stop driving cars, because hundreds of people die from traffic accidents every week in the US - many more deaths than from tainted food! If we keep driving, thousands of people will die this year as a result! Why isn't this the big headline? <the e coli in my gut are protesting>
Guest guest
It does seem silly, doesn't it? 123 people affected, only 1 died, and all this fuss. I bet everyone with a rare disease that only affects 200 out of the 300 million people in the US is upset that their affliction doesn't get this kind of attention. --- In , " " <oz4caster@...> wrote: > > Renate, > > > > This is forwarded from the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable > > Agriculture: > > > > Dear PASA members, > > The following came through the Comfood list and I thought it might > > of some use to farmers and market managers in our area. The real criminals are the ones who build stairways in houses. Statistically, this is nothing but a rush to the ER waiting to happen.
