Guest guest
Yes, I thought it was the reverse, that salt intake has gone down and heart attacks and strokes are up. According to the book Salt by Marc Kurlansky, our ancestors ate around 40 grams of salt a day in some areas, because they used it so much to preserve foods. I also thought I heard that overall life expectancy is going down, that the rise in the average life expectancy is all accounted for by children and babies surviving childhood illnesses and childbirth better. > > > On Mar 17, 2006, at 9:23 PM, wrote: > > > You know the fact of the matter is throughout the western > > world life expectancy is going up, the incidence of strokes and > > heart attacks is going down and we've been slowly increasing our > > salt intake over the last 30 years, every place that's been measured. > > > > I thought I have read that heart disease and strokes are up > dramatically since the early 1900's, so is this just recently that > heart attacks and strokes are decreasing? > > Thanks, Sandy > > > > > >
