Armour is the best treatment for hypothyroidism. I use Cortef for my adrenals. 5mg 4 times aday. Deb adrenals and thyroid If my adrenals are sluggish, and I'm not being treated optimally for my thyroid..... which should take care of first? Would it be best to try the Armour, and see if that brings the adrenals up? Or, go ahead and do something for those as well? I was on the thyroid for a bit over three months, I'd guess my dose was about 1/2 grain by then (I have no thyroid function, so that was a really low dose). I started on adrenal glandular, and felt so FANTASTIC that I went into muscle failure/exhaustion in a month... I had to stop adrenal for two months before starting up again at half that dose. I don't think my answer helped much.. others, perhaps will have more info.... If you are already on Armour and you add adrenal support, you may find yourself in an Armour overdose situation and go hyper. This has been the experience of some on both thyroid groups that I belong to. In that case, you stop the Armour, add adrenal support and go back on the Armour at a much lower dose after two to three weeks. If you use Isocort, you can get that rather quickly from vitaminmd.com and a couple of other sites (I dont' have their links). Not clinically low.... but on the low side for sure. My DHEA is also not subclinical, but lower than an optimal level. However, the doc won't give cortef because I don't have 's! What can I do to self treat adrenals? I'm going to do what I can to switch to Armour. Anyone know of a good product for adrenal support? It is dessicated sheep adrenal, (just like Armour is dessicated pig thyroid). With it, you get the full spectrum of adrenal hormones. Some order Delta Cortil which is pregnalone available from masters marketing (try www.mastermarketing.com) I get my Isocort from vitaminmd.com as they do not charge shipping. You will have to call or send an email to CustomerService@... as they are having server difficulties right now. There are a couple more links, but I dont' know them. I need to write them down.
