This is not the first time I've messed up. I am so frustrated with myself right now! Oh I feel so stupid because now I realize there may not have been a problem at all. Guest guest
What dose are you on? It is Armour right? Not yet.... I'm taking 75 of levoxyl now. I'm hoping to convince my Dr. tomorrow to switch me to Armour, and that I won't have to chase around finding a doc to do it.

Guest guest
, Be insistant. Every time he gives you a reason not to, or tells you his reservations, just say, 'I understand what you are saying, but just the same, I want to try the Armour.' Every time he gives you a reason not to, or tells you his reservations, just say, 'I understand what you are saying, but just the same, I want to try the Armour.' That's my plan. Because he's so reasonable... as I said he was the only doc I could get to even run a cortisol level..... the endo sneared at me and told me very bluntly that I did NOT have an adrenal problem... I think he is a workable guy. I went to him and said, I'm feeling such and such a way. Could we test my adrenals? Could we run some hormone levels? His response was "Sure we can do that , and let's also do a pelvic U/S and check these other levels too." He may not be totally knowledgable, but he is workable. We'll see tomorrow! Guest guest
This is a difficult one. Your adrenals cannot develope normal health without adequate thryoid to stimulate them. Thyroid regulates adrenal size and output. At the same time, if too much thyroid is given at one time, the adrenals can become depleted, damaged, and unable to keep up with demand. You must have adequate adrenal hormones for the amount of thyroid you are taking in order for thyroid to work properly. It's a balance thing. So, you must bring up thyroid slowly, giving the adrenals time to recover from the raise and get their strengh brought up. They are sort of like a muscle you haven't used in a long time. You suddenly can't start bench pressing 500 pounds. You have to work into it slowly. Anyw, you should raise thryoid up in small increments every two weeks to one month, paying attention to symptoms. If you get symptoms of excess thryoid, like shakeyness, palipitations, mood disturbances, poor sleep, excess fatigue, weakness and other uncomfortable problems on doses less than about 3 grains, then you will need to give the adrneals some sort of support or drop down on thryoid for a while and wait for adrenals to catch up, or rest and baby yourself for some time to reduce demand on the adrenals. When there is not sufficient adrenal output, thryoid hormone builds up in the blood giving symptoms of thryoid excess. The thryoid makes 4-1/2 to 5 grains of hormone a day. So, you can't overdose unless you approach that level. If you experience problems on small doses of thryoid, then it is likely adrenal isufficiency that is the cause. Basically, you have to bring thyroid and adrenal up together slowly. Tish
