Guest guest Posted April 5, 2006 Report Share Posted April 5, 2006 Before you even consider this an issue to be concerned over, take the logical steps: take your pressure at home, at all different times of AM and PM. Tho it's phyioslogically normal to find variation, the idea is to accumulate a decent grouping, and take an average. Do this for a few rounds, it'll take a while. Watch for both the gross # itself, and for any patterns. If you want to be even more accurate, note what you've eaten/drunk (sp?) in the hour before you take each reading. Also note emotional states. I don't care, I read The Cholesterol Myths and agree that, especially for women, cholesterol numbers are nothing to get upset about, but I can't get my doctor to agree -- she got in my face and used all kinds of scare tactics to get me to take Crestor. Despite the fact that heart disease does not run in my family and cancer does. She sees that I am over 50 and have diabetes so says I should be on a statin no matter what my cholesterol is. I guess I need a new doctor (again!) since all this arguing no doubt WILL make my blood pressure rise as well ... but every M.D. I've seen seems convinced statins are the greatest thing since sliced bread, and won't listen to any other opinion. Vanadium ,especially in concert w/chromium, is known as the natural alternative to insulin. To this day, and I mean that literally, I am constantly trying teaching patients of the whole cholesterol myth. I read that vanadium is in good unprocessed olive oil, and just yesterday I received my order of REALLY unprocessed olive oil from RAdiance. Plus some brewer's yeast for the chromium. I can tell that eating WAP has decreased my insulin resistance. Any processed vegetable oils combined with even a little carbohydrate can make my blood sugars go up and stay there for hours, but small amounts of whole carbs with healthy fats don't -- I can get my blood sugar back down to about 100 in a couple of hours then, with much less insulin. For example, a six ounce organic potato with raw sour cream and butter will take about 15 units of insulin to cover, and my blood sugar will be back to 100 in about two hours. Six ounces of Lay's potato chips will make my blood sugar go over 250 and take up to 50 units of insulin, in two or three injections over the next 4 to 6 hours to get it back down. I just got some butter oil too, so I'm going to see how that does combined with the cod liver oil. Even if all this does not heal diabetes, I am certain it will help my body avoid complications. So far so good -- no complications after 13 years. Yes, I've tried to convince my family that their moderately high cholesterol is nothing to worry about, but it falls on deaf ears. My father's cholesterol is low, about 180 without medication, but because he is diabetic also, they have him on a statin anyway! And he has esophageal cancer now, stage 4. Makes you wonder. Supplementation si tricky business. You need to understand the different molecular forms of the substances; dissolution ability, and what not; one needs to know the proper gross amount to take; one needs to know the ability of the person to absorb - getting into the whole gut health issue - a 'lecture' in it's own right; then there is the age of the person, or rather the general neurologic status. Why do I say this? The more functionally impaired the N. System is, the greater the challenge it is for it to undersyand what you are introducing into the body. This may be the greatest reason why so many people say that substance X doesn't help them, they tried it. The % of functionally impaired humanoids is astonishing. Next, and not last, is dehydration. Wow!! What a can of worms that is. So why do so many people actually get better by so many different, and, albeit, inferior products? That is what all should be asking temselve. Simple answer. People are so massively malnourished, that any molecule even remotely resembling a food based nutrient - will help most.
