Guest guest
Hi I have 3 quarts of extra whey from raw milk which I turned into kefir. I have just been enjoying the kefir cheese and adding salt and olive oil, chives, etc. What are some uses for the whey (other than using it to make sauerkraut)? Is it good to drink kefir whey? I am fairly new to this NT concept and don't want to throw it out, but it is taking over the refrigerator. Thanks Don _____
Guest guest
Hi Don, I just joined this group and am fairly new to NT, but I use whey in soaking (oatmeal, flour for bread etc), also in culturing homemade hot sauce (salsa) or jams...just about anything. You can drink whey, but I mostly use it for culturing and soaking. You could also use buttermilk, yogurt, or kefir, but they each impart their own flavor. Whey doesn't really have a flavor. So, that's why I use it in hot sauce or jams or oatmeal. I have 3 quarts of extra whey from raw milk which I turned into kefir. Guest guest
Hi Don, If you don't want that much whey try not letting your kefir ferment quite as long so that the whey has not separated. Even if it has separated I stir it back in and drink it. Whey is very good nutritionally so it is good to drink. Guest guest
Every morning and sometimes afternoon I make the drink of keifr whey, juice of one lemon, celtic sea salt and filtered water. I add differening of each depending on what my body tells me. What a pick me up. It's my favorite drink @ the moment.
