How ingesting HIV virus leads to HIV infection?

Dear FORUM,

I have a question. If an person ingests HIV virus, is s/he likely to become HIV

positive?

If 'no' then why the child who ingests the milk of his/her HIV positive mother

is likely to become HIV positive too?

I would like to hear an expert in the field answer my question.
