Guest guest
Dear Elected Representatives and Members of the various constituencies represented on the India CCM, The India CCM has initiated a process by which over a hundred civil society organizations have been constituted to form the Civil Society and other constituency for the CCM. From these constituencies, members have been elected to represent their respective constituency. It would be correct for these elected representatives to be actively engaged with their respective constituency, and be responsible to it. As elected members of the Civil Society and other constituencies, we the representatives of the respective constituencies would like to ask the members on the CCM to clarify the following: The process by which they intend to collect concerns, suggestions and opinions of the constituency for sharing with the CCM The process by which the discussions held in the CCM could be related back to the constituency and for receiving feedback on the same The process by which all organizations of the respective constituencies have an equal opportunity on intent, participation, and inclusion as applicants in the country proposal. The process and criteria by which some proposals are selected for inclusion in the country proposal and others rejected. As the CCM and as individual elected members representing these constituencies; what is the process of accessibility for these constituencies to access and consult with the CCM or their elected representatives? Since one of the existing mandates of the CCM is 1) to ensure there is sufficient emphasis of active Civil Society participation and involvement in the country proposal 2) there is active participation and representation of civil society in addressing all three diseases TB, HIV/AIDS, and Malaria; clarification and information on the above mentioned would be helpful in streamlining the mechanism by which Civil Society can meaningfully participate and contribute to the working of the CCM. Thanking you Yours Sincerely Dr.Ashok Rau Executive Trustee/CEO Freedom Foundation-India, Nigeria, and Botswana (Centers of Excellence- Substance Abuse & HIV/AIDS) 180, Hennur Cross, Bangalore - 560043, India Senior Research Fellow, The Terry Sanford Institute of Public Health, Duke University (USA), Visiting Faculty, Yale University (USA) Phone (O) +91 80 25440134, 25449766, Fax (O) +91 80 25440134 e-mail: <ashokrau@...>
