Guest guest
Hi Betty, I have Hshimoto and Papilary carcinoma as well.Had TT in November 2001. My surgeon, Dr. and my endo-nuc, Dr. McDougall say that having Hashimoto protects us against thyrois cancer. Dr. made some research on it. I'll look for the srticle and send it if I find it. Having Hashimoto, you must be aware of other autoimmune disease, because if you have one autoimmune disaes' you can have another one as well. I wonder what Dr. Ain has to say about it?...Does he agree? Keep in touch, Naama > Hi everyone, > My question is-When I had my TT 8/2/01, they also diagnosed Hashimotos > thyrodosis. Guest guest
Hi Betty, From what I understand, the biggest problem hashimoto's thyroiditis presents in people is goiter in the thyroid, which makes it enlarged and can also swell up surrounding lymph nodes. But we no longer have thyroids. I am definitely not an expert and I don't know for sure, but perhaps the only thing that may happen as a result of having hashimoto's may be enlarged lymph nodes that are benign but enlarged due to the HT. When I had my surgery, I had quite a few enlarged lymph nodes that were removed and biopsied; thankfully they were all just hashimoto's nodes, no cancer spread had spread there. Guest guest
Hi Betty, It is my understanding that if you had Hashimoto's thyroiditis, after you have a TT you can still produce thyroglobulin (Tg) antibodies and the antibodies make the Tg blood test unreliable as a tumor marker for thyca monitoring. However, the antibodies sometimes go away in time. I think antibodies (TgAb) are automatically tested when your doctor orders a Tg level. Hope this helps. Someone please correct me if this is wrong. in OH --- Betty <bettymiller56@h...> wrote: > My question is-When I had my TT 8/2/01, they also diagnosed Hashimotos thyrodosis.
