Guest guest
Well, I don't know about yours, but mine are really cheap (especially when compared to the cost of the strips) so price isn't too much of a problem. Then, because they are very sharp, they go through your skin wiht the minimum amount of pain, but they are also thin. The first time you use it, the end will flatten a little and there won't be a nice sharp point anymore. It will hurt a lot more the second time you try to use the lancet. All in all, if you cleaned it well, I imagine there is no MEDICAL reason why not to, but for your own comfort I would use a new one each time. ~ Jayd
Guest guest
use once and throw away is the recommended usage, actually you need a special can or jar for the disposal so that no one else might get stuck, I use a empty coffee can for mine..and then tape the lid shut... lancets are we suppose to use it once then throw out? or dip in alchohol and re-use? thank you ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca Diabetes homepage: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/diabetes/ To unsubscribe to this group, send an email to: diabetes-unsubscribe Hope you come back soon! Guest guest
i have not had a chance to price them yet, i assumed there would only be one that lasted 5 years or something hahahahahahha and they hurt the first time too..i'm a suck..i have a bruise on my finger where i did it also. those strips cost me $50 for 50 there must be cheaper ones, blue cross covers the monitor and strips and lancets, everything really .but only up to $200 per year. --- Jayd Dragon wrote: > Well, I don't know about yours, but mine are really > cheap (especially > when compared to the cost of the strips) ---------------------------------------------------- so price > isn't too much of a > problem. Guest guest
yea i forgot about that, there was a situation up the street where the garbage man stuck himself, he opened the garbage and found hundreds of needles.. well you soon learn what the law does about that..he called the garbage police i guess they are called hahahha..who banged on the door of the offender and there was this huge ordeal over this, cause they didn't know if it was diabetic needles or drug needles...there were no diabetics in the house... sooooooo.... ----------------------------------------------------- --- Carmen wrote: > use once and throw away is the recommended usage, > actually you need a special can or jar for the > disposal so that no one else might get stuck, I use > a empty coffee can for mine..and then tape the lid > shut... > lancets > > > are we suppose to use it once then throw out? > > or dip in alchohol and re-use? > > > > thank you > > > ______________________________________________________________________ > > Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca > > > Diabetes homepage: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/diabetes/ > > To unsubscribe to this group, send an email to: > diabetes-unsubscribe > Hope you come back soon! > >
Guest guest
www.diabetesnet.com check these guys out, they have test strips cheaper than what you are paying, and I don't see how the heck Blue Shield can limit something like diabetes supplies, are they willing to open themselves up to a law suit, when someone loses a leg for not being able to test correctly? Guest guest
thanks i will check them out.. i think blue cross coverage is basic cause it is thru my university, and it is a 12 month coverage, instead of just the school year, also they pay %95 of everything else, the diaqbetes thing is sad tho..i wonder why they do that?..i should challenge that.. i heard that most companies don't cover the monitor tho?..is this correct with yours? ------------------------------------------------------ --- Carmen wrote: > www.diabetesnet.com check these guys out, they have > test strips cheaper than what you are paying, and I > don't see how the heck Blue Shield can limit > something like diabetes supplies, are they willing > to open themselves up to a law suit, when someone > loses a leg for not being able to test correctly? > Re: Re: lancets > > > i have not had a chance to price them yet, i > assumed > there would only be one that lasted 5 years or > something hahahahahahha > > and they hurt the first time too..i'm a suck..i > have a > bruise on my finger where i did it also. > > those strips cost me $50 for 50 there must be > cheaper > ones, blue cross covers the monitor and strips and > lancets, everything really .but only up to $200 > per > year. > > > > > --- Jayd Dragon wrote: > > > Well, I don't know about yours, but mine are > really > > cheap (especially > > when compared to the cost of the strips) > > > > ---------------------------------------------------- > > so price > > isn't too much of a > > problem. Guest guest
I have a ppo insurance, and they will cover the supplies, monitor and all at 80% after a 250.00 deductable, which I think is wrong and have recently told them so...lol... but all in all it ain't too bad, if you have the cash to put up front, I have been looking at the catalog for the website I sent you and they have a meter kit called the hypoguard Quicktek and are showing it for 10.00 and then for the strips, for a 100 of them is only 35.95 but of course there is shipping and handling there too...but even with that it is still half the price of what I pay up front for the strips for my onetouch ultra, I pay 82.00 per 100. Guest guest
yup, any needles that are for use like this need to be disposed of properly, I did'nt think about it at first, I just put the little cap on the old one and tossed it in the trash, but have corrected that since then, haven't gotten a full coffee can yet, but don't know what I am going to do with it when it is, guess that I could take it to the hospital or the Doctors and have them add it to their collection... they must know how to get rid of it safely... lancets > > > are we suppose to use it once then throw out? > > or dip in alchohol and re-use? > > > > thank you > > > ______________________________________________________________________ > > Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca > > > Diabetes homepage: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/diabetes/ > > To unsubscribe to this group, send an email to: > diabetes-unsubscribe > Hope you come back soon! > >

Guest guest
I have been putting mine in an old medicine bottle. Next will be the empty vitamin bottle. I put a few in the trash, than started putting them inside of something. Let me share a funny with you. I stuck myself twice taking the lancet off . Than I started putting the little tops back on. stuck myself again. Darn thing went through the plastic and out the side. I guess I had it at an angle.Purchased a pair of bent head tweezers and started using a bottle of some kind to keep them in. Those are some sharp little things. I did not think it was funny at the time but now I laugh at it. lancets > > > are we suppose to use it once then throw out? > > or dip in alchohol and re-use? > > > > thank you > > > ______________________________________________________________________ > > Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca > > > Diabetes homepage: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/diabetes/ > > To unsubscribe to this group, send an email to: > diabetes-unsubscribe > Hope you come back soon! > >
Guest guest
from a personal point of view it is a disgrace, from a buisiness point of view they are pretty smart eh? the monitor can be gotten FREE sometimes..but what are they without the strips?..paper weight:) it's like getting a cotton candy machine for $1 and the sugar cost $500 hahahahhah... --------------------------------------------------- --- sandflower wrote: > oh my what a rip... that will get you about a month > worth, I wonder how they get away with that. > Re: Re: lancets > > > i have not had a chance to price them yet, i assumed > there would only be one that lasted 5 years or > something hahahahahahha > > and they hurt the first time too..i'm a suck..i have > a > bruise on my finger where i did it also. > > those strips cost me $50 for 50 there must be > cheaper > ones, blue cross covers the monitor and strips and > lancets, everything really .but only up to $200 per > year. > > > > > --- Jayd Dragon wrote: > > Well, I don't know about yours, but mine are really > > cheap (especially > > when compared to the cost of the strips) > > > ---------------------------------------------------- > > so price > > isn't too much of a > > problem. Guest guest
as much as I wish that I could I can't, if you have the one touch, then the one touch strips is what they say to use, but you might just check with the pharmasist where you get your stuff and see if there isn't a different kind that you could use, if I had the money to spare I would try some that I saw at the local walmart, they look just like the one touch, but at the moment I can't afford to waste money on a experiment... Guest guest
I am gaining a new appreication of my health insurance. 100 testing strips and 100 lancets cost me $30, however they did nto pay for the tester. Most of my perscriptions cost me $20 but the metforming is $10 a month. I have just used up my first 100 and will have to figure out what I have to change on this little thing (Accu-chec advantage ). My son-in-law and daughter figured out how to set it up. I was chicken. and Henry even did the first pricks.... What can I say peep peep peep. Guest guest
lol, hubby set mine up the first time, and then from then on, when having to change codes and things I have had to do it...actually wanted to do it, if he ain't around guess who gets the job? lol... sounds like you have a good program even without the meter being covered, they last a long time and you will get your moneys worth out of them, I bought the onetouch ultra as that is what the doctor gave me the prescription for, was like 75.00 for the starter kit, and then had a 40.00 rebate so that wasn't too bad. Just the cost of the strips are killing me, even with the insurance kicking in, and that is fixing to stop as the year is changing and I have to start the 250.00 deductable all over again... Guest guest
I use the Freestyle and I can poke myself just about anywhere and get enough blood. It really does hurt less when you don't have to prick your fingers. They still say that fingers are more accurate though. Is that true? Carol (Yes there is two Carol's here) I noticed that earlier.
