Dear All,

CARE has joined the global campaign to protect access to essential medicines for

the poor, in the specific context of the Novartis lawsuit against the Government

of India. A victory for Novartis in this case would imply a drastic reduction in

production of low cost generic medicines in India. Given that India serves as

the 'pharmacy of the world' for generics that it produces in country and

supplies to much of the developing world, the consequences of this case have

ramifications for the poor, far beyond India.

support and solidarity. Spread the word. Ask your NGO partners, especially those

working on the issue of HIV/AIDS to join the campaign in putting people first,

safeguarding their right to access affordable essential medicines....
