Guest guest Posted May 1, 2007 Report Share Posted May 1, 2007 Dear Friends, Re: /message/7207 I am quoting the dosages of various ARV's for paeditric use- kindly correct me if there is any wrong dosage 1.ZDV--360-720 mg per square meter per day divided tid or bid,suspension of 10mg per ml. 2.ddI--180-240 mg per square meter per day od/bd,suspension of 10mg/ml 3.ddC-0.03 mg/kg/daydivided tid,suspension 0.1mg/ml 4.3TC--8mg/kg/day divided bd,suspension 10mg/ml 5.d4T--2mg/kg/day divided bd,suspension 1 mg/ml 6.Abacavir-16/mg/kg/day divided bd,suspension 20mg/ml 7.NVP--240-400 mg per square meter/day divided bid,suspension 10mg/ml 8.Indinavir--350mg per square meter every 8 hours,200 or 400 mg capsules. 9.Ritonavir--800 mg/square meter/day divided bid,suspension 80mg/ml 10.saquanavir--no data in children 11.Nelfinavir--60-90 mg/kg/day divided tid 12.Amprenavir-22.5 mg/kg bid;suspension 50mg/ml. Out of the listed above ZDV,3TC,and NVP are available for sure seperately by CIPLA and in a combination by Emcure. The paeditric dosing should not exceed adult doses. However the original commmunication was not about what the standard dosages are, but was about the way it is being given at the government pediatric ART centres. We have also seen prescriptions from the centre in Pune where 1 adult tablet in the morning and 1/2 in the evening (of d4T based FDCs) is routinely prescribed. There must be some rationale based on the half life of different drugs and other pharmacokinetics. It would be nice if NACO explains the same for the benefit of others.
