Yes, I had it -- and it made it difficult for my husband and I to

conceive.

Not those two things but I've always felt that my severe PMS had to do with my

mom issues.  The way my mother handled her periods with me (showing me her

underwear when her tampon leaked) and my period (tracking my periods, along with

hers, on a calander in the kitchen... " look lynn we have to track both of our

periods together), always, incessantly talking about her period, getting

excited by the fact that my periods stopped for a year when I was 16 because

I was anorexic, acting dissapointed in my lack of " control " when my periods

started up again after my weight went up to 115 (at 5'7'')...

Sorry.  Maybe this was TMI but the post hit a nerve...

Who has endometriosis or fibroids?

I have a theory that women with " mommy issues " tend to have problems

with their periods. I have endometriosis. Anyone else?

And I had endometriosis for years, had it " cleaned up " twice and finally

had a hysterectomy when I was 34.

Fibriods big time. Bleeding and hemorraging at least half the month.

Led to a hysterectomy 10 years ago. Can't say I miss the uterus! The

big joke was that my nada offered to come from out of town to help take

care of me during the recovery phase. I said thanks, but no thanks,

It would have been a month of me looking after her!

I have endometriosis, diagnosed through surgery when I was 16. For

years my mom told me I was just being dramatic about the pain. It

wasn't until I passed out and was found on the floor of the bathroom at

school that she had to take it seriously. I've been on continuous

birth control pills ever since (I don't take a break for a period

except for once a year) and that helps...except for the once a year I

get a period! I also have PCOS, so the birth control pills help

control the hormone issues from that as well.

I've not been diagnosed with a reason for bad periods.

But, I tend to have horrible, heavy periods. That is until I tried

something I read in a book. Sorry, don't remember the book. But, it

works! The book was talking about women and poor health in this

country. In other contries where they eat more vegetables, fish,

fruit etc, they have easier menses and some never have menopause

symptoms at all. Basically, it recommended 3 Tablespoons Cod Liver

Oil every day of your period to cut the bleeding in 1/2. I also

decided to take a capsule or two daily...that seems to help me in

needing to take less on the days when my period starts.

yes, great theory. my nada loved to talk about the pain of her periods too,

but I didn't let her know when mine started and I just remembered what I

learned in 5th grade and took care of it myself.

I don't have fibroids or endometriosis but I actually had Pre Menstral

Dysphoric Disorder - I would become suicidal for 2 weeks before my period. I

got an IUD 2 years ago called Mirena. If you have problems and can get this

IUD please do. It hurts like hell to put in (really really hurts), but it

has been wonderful. I have no periods and no PMS and few suicidal thoughts.
