PSI harnesses the vitality of the private sector to address the health problems of low-income and vulnerable populations across more than 60 developing countries. PSI in India implements the Social Marketing & amp; Social Franchising Program as part of the Avahan program funded by the Bill & amp; Melinda Gates Foundation. The program aims to promote safer sexual practices and STI treatment-seeking among male clients of sex workers in project states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Position Purpose Working in collaboration with IntraHealth through the Performance Improvement Core Group (PICG), a collaborative team of IntraHealth and PSI Avahan, the program training specialist participates with the group to focus on improving the quality of STI services delivered through the franchise of health care providers (Key Clinic Network), design, manage and implement the training and supporting tools and services of the project for both Training and Support Team (TST) members and for the health care provider franchise members who are trained and supported by the TSTs in 4 program states. During the first year, learns and utilizes performance improvement and performance training approaches under the guidance of IntraHealth and PSI senior members in PICG. Responsibilities * Using program management and evaluation teams input identifies and meet performance improvement needs of health care providers and franchise teams. Participates in mentoring training and support visits; facilitating qualitative research with health care providers; and other performance enhancement initiatives for achieving quality standards * Using adult learning and participatory methodologies prepares or refines medical training curricula and training materials in support of the HIV AIDS prevention strategy. * Working with other PICG members, strengthens capacity of new member of PICG in developing curriculum and manuals using Performance Learning Methodology (PLM). * Coordinates and plans training of trainers programs including clinical observation as assigned. * Participates as a key trainer and mentor of the Training and Support Team trainers. * Working with State Franchise Managers, coordinates PICG input and optimal utilization of services of STI specialist in one or more States. * In collaboration with the monitoring and evaluation team and IntraHealth, gives input to the management system to enhance the effectiveness of training and support visits for health care providers. * Participates in building mentoring capacity of Area Franchise Managers. * Working with the Team assures that documentation, reporting and use of evaluation findings to improve interventions are in place * Participates in the process of assuring training and support to the Training Support teams and franchise health providers results in quality performance. * Provides inputs for development of concept papers and proposals. * Coordinates with communications team to promote the health services of the franchised outlets. * Contributes to the quarterly newsletter and technical letters by preparing or reviewing write-ups on program or technical issues. * Provides technical inputs and support for new services that may be introduced into the Key Clinic Network. * Provide inputs and support to the management team to strive towards ongoing progress in making the Key Clinic Network more effective and cost efficient Essential Values, Behaviors and Skills * Strong proficiency in written and spoken English. * Willingness to learn performance methodologies. * Experience in curriculum development will be a preference. * Willingness to travel within India 40-50%, particularly in Southern India. * Knowledge of one or more regional languages amongst Kannada, Tamil, Telegu and Marathi would be a preference. Qualifications * MBBS with 5-7 years experience in reproductive and sexual health. (Particularly STI treatment in males using Syndromic Management) * Experience as a medical trainer using participatory and skill based training methodologies.
