When you say it is taking more strength to fight it, what does this mean? What are you fighting? Regards,
Guest guest
Fighting losing control. It really feels like I'll lose it during these times, like I have no control over my body or mind. Just really scary. Tonya > > > > ** Given the hormonal and adrenal problems, I don't think so. > > > When you say it is taking more strength to fight it, what does this > mean? Guest guest
I might know how you feel when you say fight it....after the drug withdrawl for me i had to really watch my emotions because i would become agitated so easily and out of nowhere sometimes. The fighting could be the constant monitoring of your emotions? > > > > Hi , > > I've been having lots of mental and physical agitation, and at times > > fear losing control of myself. Guest guest
Sorry I guess I should explain better. Physically, it's intense restlessness. My body doesn't want to stay still, despite being so exhausted. There is a strange tingling sensation, as if electricity is running through my nerves. Mentally unfocused and fearful that I'll do or say something that I'm not aware of. > > > > > > Hi , > > > I've been having lots of mental and physical agitation, and at > times > > > fear losing control of myself. Guest guest
Hi Tonya,Sorry you are finding it all tough at the moment.I had extreme periods of restlessness physically when I withdrew from seroxat (paxil) the ony thing I found that helped was "Applied Relaxation" have you ever tried it? It's basically where you tense each muscle , hold it and then let it relax. You can get tapes that guide you through it? It's hard to start with but if you really concentrate hard on it , it does work.Does the tingling sensation in the nerves hurt?Keep writing in so we can all support you through this, don't do it alone hun.Love yaSorry I guess I should explain better. Guest guest
Ooh do I remember those days. The most important thing you can do is retrain yourself, retrain your thinking. Keep telling yourself, this too shall pass. It will not always be this way. You WILL get better. You may never be perfect, but one step at a time. susan Re: Akathisia? Guest guest
Thanks . I'll look into the Applied Relaxation. The tingling doesn't really hurt. It's very strange, just feels like severe stimulation. Scary feeling. Thanks for your support! Love ya, Tonya > > Hi Tonya, > > Sorry you are finding it all tough at the moment. > > I had extreme periods of restlessness physically when I withdrew from > seroxat (paxil) the ony thing I found that helped was " Applied > Relaxation " have you ever tried it? Guest guest
Hi ,I've been having lots of mental and physical agitation, and at timesfear losing control of myself. Is that akathisia? And what can I do about it? It's taking more and more strength to fight it these days.Thank you,Tonya>> ** Tonya, akathisia seldom comes and goes. If it is present, it stays until treated or mitigated. It is exclusive to conditions where dopamine is blocked or quite low. Today, I believe the word is misused. It used to be used only in conjunction with the mental and physical restlessness caused by drugs or conditions in which dopamine is impaired. Now, people are calling any anxious state or restlessness akathisia. This condition is most often caused by antipsychotic drugs and less often by SSRIs or other antidepressants. It is also caused by opiate withdrawal. It can be mitigated by Vit B6 and/or Benedryl (diphenhydramine). --Regards,

Guest guest
My father was on so many drugs for Parkinsons I wondered how he could function. One of the side effects of at least one of them was akathisia (or perhaps the Parkinsons itself), and once you’ve seen the real thing, you don’t mistake it for anything else. susan ** Tonya, akathisia seldom comes and goes.
