Hi, I'm baffled.can you give me some advise??

HX: on Prozac for 3-4 years, 5 mo ago started cutting back 10 mg a

week. got stuck when i went from 60mg a week to 50mg with severe

burning stomach and chest pain. went back up to 70 mg a week 8 weeks

ago. waiting to feel good again and deal with the stress of healing

broken leg (of 10 weeks). Eating better: IE all fresh stuff, some

organic, 3 fruits and vegis a day, 2-3 servings of protein a day and

some type of cheese or yogurt. sugar intake a problem, but down to 4

times a week. homeopathic has me on: {causticum regime, enzQ10, EPA

fish oil, ligiplex(ligiment herbs with magnesium), red yeast rice,

zymex(wheat germ and stomach herbs for IBS), and an

enzyme:dismuzymeplus granules with sod and catalase}. I have days of

delight and energy, and days i feel like every thing is too much work

and im disqusted with me. I took one of

my husbands omeprezole20mg tabs 2 nites ago for the stomach burning

and it got better, but made me dizzy. I prefere not to use meds..

Since i reinstated, the chest pain has been gone, but the burning

stomac is back now for 3 days. i had a miss hap on vacation with

the RV heating up and leaving us stranded in the heat 9 days ago, my

husband got sick with heat exaustion, and i slept for 2 days when we

got home. but still my stomac was on and off with just little

burning like always. but then 8 and 9 days ago we did a lot of

running around town and i was happy and worked a lot in the house.

NOW the burning is back with a vengince, and im resting times 3 days

and it's still here...

here's my question, shouldn't the stomach be ok by now? is it not ok

because:

1) i should have reinstated to a higher dose of Prozac? if so, is it

too late now?

2) is this from the stressors and i need to rest more? in bed, or

just away from stressors...there are gona be stessors!!!

3) is this from the healing that still needs to take place, and if so

should i go on some of the suppliments you suggest? if its the

healing, then how do i decide if these symptoms are the ones that

indicate that i should wait to start decreaseing my Prozac again, or

they are the ones that i will be suffering from for extended time,

even after i get off the prozac, and may take years to heal. ( how

can i know when to start the decrease again?)

Ive been reading all the correspondance here, and reviewed the files

each time you sent them, trying to get a feel for this, but i get

depressed easily and don't seam to want to do the things every one

says will cheer me up. it all seams like work, and ive worked too

hard in my life. now i get going this last week and im in pain

again. the theripist says it's time to get off the prozac because

the PTSD and severe depression i had are gone, and i neednto learn to

deal with my new self. two steps forward, two steps back!

Long message, hope you have some ideas, every bodys input is welcome..

Love your hard work and solid way of thinking about life..

Patty.

** Hi Patty,

In order to answer your question about what dose of Prozac you should be taking to bring your body back to a stable condition, I need to know your original dose. Chances are you'll need to go back to the original dose as 10mg a week is much too fast of a withdrawal. Prozac has an average half-life of 216 hours (more than a week). This is merely an average. For some people it is less, for others, more. By dropping weekly you never gave the first 10mg decrease to even set in. So, by the time you werre doing other decreases, there was this snowball effect. It is basically the same as dropping the entire amount you dropped all at once.

You're at difficult spot. There is what I refer to as a " window of opportunity " for reinstating a drug. You're not exactly reinstating as you are still taking the drug but your body has been in crisis and struggling to bring some balance to itself so it may have reached the point of being unable to accommodate an increase of the drug now. If this is the case, this really complicates the picture.

As far as supplements go, they will help your body in its arduous task ahead.

You spoke of taking a homeopathic remedy. What symptoms was this Rx based upon? None of what you wrote to me here says Causticum to me. I think some of the key guiding symptoms for you would be the burning stomach (should not lean toward remedies that are based upon stomach acid symptoms), and the emotional symptoms of believing you've worked " too hard " and of not wanting to do things people say will help you.

Do you actually have IBS? When did these symptoms begin? Why are you taking red yeast rice?

I look forward to your response.
