Guest guest
Dear All, Re: /message/7756 We, members of VIMUKTI totally supporting Dr.Sunita arguments. Its inhuman that lettting off the clients in the pretext of HIV/AIDS.The proposed amentment of punishing clients is a long cherished demand from the women Sangas/feminist groups and activists but its unfortunate that some Activist friends/groups opposing it. Some of the organisation like Darbar Mahila Samakya and Sakshi (CARE supported) of Andhra arguing that victims would be protected only through legalisation and feel prostitution is one of the sources for livlihood for women in crisis. The afore said groups have made their representation before the Parliamentary Sub-Committee last year (We too meade our representation there). But today their back drop leaders argue strangely against today. As Dr.Sunita criticised we all need to condem the attempts of Condom Manufacturing Companies & Pharmaceutical Companies for implement their hidden agendas to market their their products. Particulalry of those prominent group of people who keep on changing the organisations to promote their hidden agenda, " legalisation in India " . These groups utilise the organisations supported by the government like NACO,SACS etc. to propmote their own interests. Guest guest
Dear Forum I entirely agree with Ashok on this. Re: /message/7806 And its not just a question of gay men. All minorities, including sexual minorities (who are incidentally much poorer than the people on this forum sometimes) are threatened by the likes of such people who are turning back the debate of HIV and AIDS into the black era of nism. I thought India particularly – in the stewardship pf the likes of Mr Prasada Rao in the past to Ms Sujatha Rao at present have clearly adopted a line of – may I say ‘sexuality secularism’ … and still we have so many agreements to such thoughts of the people (to me masquerading as human beings with open minds – and may even be doctors who may not have taken the Hippocratic oath). What I appeal to all is - let’s not agree to this retrogressive thinking so easily… we are resilient – and let us be.
