Thank you . I always get " cotton head " with every decrease.

As I mentioned before I do only 5% at the time (Effexor), but I still

get symptoms and I get " cotton head " for about one week or so. It is

amazing feeling when one day I start feeling bright. I can't really

explain this. Usually in the very first days I get splitting

headaches. They pass by as well...

Hi !

I am interested in what you say about the dangers of rapid withdrawal. I

believe I may have gone too quickly, reducing the dose of Zyprexa by a

third from 1.875mg to 1.25mg. In another message, I document the problems

I now experience after that reduction - abnormal body movements - jerks,

muscle spasms, tics and parkinsonism in the form of retarded movement.

I had figured, with hindsight wrongly, that I would be okay with a 33% drop

since the higher dose of 1.875mg was already " sub-therapeutic " (to quote the

doctor). It was clearly not low enough to avoid these problems, though!

I guess what I'm left wondering is whether I should re-instate the Zyprexa at

or around the original dosage of 1.875mg to try and limit or reverse the

problems, or whether to start tapering more slowly from where I stand now,

and hope the problems fade in time.

It has now been over three months since I reduced by a third to 1.25mg. The

abnormal movements have faded to some degree.

Yours,

Sloopy!

Sloopy,'s general rule is that you can reinstate within a 6 week time frame. After that it's too late...I'm stepping in to answer in case is not up to it as all this info is in the archives.

So given that piece of info my best guess is that you stabilize as best as you can on this dose and then resume your taper at the 5 to 10 % rate. The physical symptoms are really awful...I'm familiar with tardyve diskinesia from my days working as a social worker...if it's faded to some degree we can hope with good nutrition and care that it will continue to reverse.

good wishes to you!
