Guest guest Posted June 29, 2007 Report Share Posted June 29, 2007 Position: Project Coordinator (Goa) of Evidence for Action (EfA): A UK Department for International Development funded Research Programme Consortium on HIV/AIDS care systems We are looking for Project Coordinator, secretary and three research assistants for the Goa arm of a five year Research programme on HIV care and treatment systems. The candidate for project coordinator will ideally be a social scientist or epidemiologist with extensive research experience. The contracts will be for six months provisionally with a view to be extended for a further four years if the candidate performs satisfactorily during the six month probation period. The persons will be employed through Goa State AIDS Control Society, and the proposed research will be predominately based in Goa and Northern Karnataka. The goal of the research programme will be to increase knowledge on how to design and implement HIV prevention, treatment and care programmes in resource poor settings. The Project Coordinator together with the secretary and research assistants will have overall responsibility for the project in Goa in 1. Developing and implementing the research agenda 2. Developing and implementing the strategy for communication of research with key stakeholders and policy makers. 3. Building research capacity in Goa. The successful candidate for project coordinator will be a person that has substantial experience of community based research, preferably in the area of HIV/AIDs. S/he will have experience of leading the research teams in both quantitative and qualitative data collection. S/he will have analyzed and disseminated research finding in a systematic way including publication in peer reviewed publications. S/he will be non judgmental, understand the role of ethics in research and exhibit excellent communication skills. S/he will have experience of engaging the community in research and communication of evidence to policy makers. S/he will have experience of teaching and training. S/he will have excellent grasp of written and spoken Hindi and English. Experience with statistical packages will be a bonus. Application should reach Dr Vikram Patel at Sangath by the 31st of June.
