Guest guest
Based on the genzyme site - Thyrogen is to be used for scanning in patients with an undetectable TG (thyroglobuline) level when supressed. Usually folks have a Thyrogen scan after 1 or 2 clean scans the traditional hypo way... Thyrogen missed 16% of the remnants of thyroid tissue and 24% of the metatastic disease found by traditional methods in the clinical trials - Its typically used as one of many tools, once there has been a clean scan. The use for ablation is really quite new - and not yet FDA approved according to thyroid manager.org -- the genzyme site indicates it has an orphan drug designation for ablation and is doing trials i think there was someone (maybe a few folks) who did have ablation using thyrogen - if yes, pipe up... http://www.thyroidmanager.org/Chapter18/18-ablat.htm has a great chart of the process of testing and ablation and scanning the LID doesn't need a doctor's orders to follow - its on www.thyca.org, it doesn't hurt, doesn't require a prescription, and its something you can do for yourself to help increase the accuracy of a scan and improve the results of ablation barb TT 8/99 RAI 4/00 Clean Scan 12/00 > Hi all and I hope someone can answer this one.
