Many things remains to be un answered about my patient.

Dear All,

Hardeep kaur (name changed ) came to me AIDS ARARENESS GROUP 3

years ago. Her husband was working in Gulf and she was living with

joint family of Jat Sikh younger brothers of her husband and their

families. She told me she is HIV + and there started our relation of

doctor and patient and with pride I can say she used to share all her

feelings with me.

Her husband was HIV-ve. She had adolescence two children and they too

were HiV-. I never stressed from where she got the infection as she

denied extra marital sex at that point.

I used to help her with samples of opportunistic drugs as she used to

have bad bowels, lung infections and she also had Pulmonary TB. She

was put on ART as ART centers were not there in Medical college.

I noticed one day she was little happy and on my pursuance she told

me she is having sex with her husband's younger brother who is still

unmarried. At that time other family members were unaware of her HIV

status. It took me 2 hrs to counsel her to avoid these things as she

will be passing infection to a healthy people which she should not .

She agreed in principle with me and took a vow on her children that

she will not do sex / or unprotected sex with any one .

Of course she was a human too who had emotions. Time went on

passing. 6 months back she came with a middle aged man Ajaib singh

(Name changed) from her neighboring village and introduced me. He

too was HIV+. I never asked how they became aquatint to each other,

but it was obvious they were enjoying each others company as they

both used to travel together from their villages.

I secretly reminded Harrdeep about her oath to me regarding safe sex

and she told me they are having platonic relationship and i used to

enjoy their talks and we used to share so many things. Now she was

busy in her household affairs too. When ART centers came to our

medical college as I always wanted to help them I asked them to come

to me at Medical college Amritsar as ART center is in Skin and STD

Department.

They never came back for months.... I was curious. One day Ajaib

Singh came to me in my Department. I asked him why he didn't come he

showed his inability as he has to send his children to school, make

their food for the day and to go to work too. And he said moreover he

didn't wish to come but he has come only for sake of his children.

On my request he also told me Hardeep had something at her home.. the

details he doesn't know. She refused taking food as she wanted to

die. All requests from close relatives when failed they called Ajaib

singh for their help. He too pleaded hard for the sake of family. But

she never agreed. She remained without food and water for a week or

so and ultimately she DIED..

Many things remains to be un answered. '
