Guest guest
Recommendation -- Guided Meditation Psychosomatic Wellness by Candace Pert 2007 Review http://www.amazon.com/Psychosomatic-Wellness-Meditations-Affirmations-Bodymind/d\ p/1591797934/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & qid=1294230723 & sr=8-1 (also available for $6.99 as an MP3) Author of Molecules of Emotion, Candace Pert is a professor of physiology and biophysics at the town University School of Medicine, where she researches the way emotions and thoughts manifest themselves in the body at the molecular level. In other words, she's a doctor who has proven the correlation between our mental and physical well-being. " Some of the most unwell, frightened, miserable folks I know are disease-free, according to their annual checkup, " she says. And the reverse is also very true: " Good health, " she says, " is so much more than the absence of disease. " With Psychosomatic Wellness, Pert introduces us to music, words, and tones that can help us unlock the means to use our minds to heal and regulate our bodies, for left untrained our minds often tend to inflict negative emotion and stress on the body. This CD will help you even if, as Pert says, you're " just looking to find a scientifically grounded way to relax and enjoy yourself.” To reach these levels, Pert makes fine use of music, which, " like our bodies, is structured vibrations of energetic patterns...our bodies can literally resonate with the music we hear. " She brings in musician Lanny Meyers " together with his longtime, adorable musical collaborator Greg Arnold. " They come in on the hour-long track to lay down a 25-minute stretch of relaxing music, based on a system that uses LanNiels conversion, conceived by Lanny Meyers via the atomic relationships defined by Niels Bohr's theory of electrons. The booklet included in the CD reminds us that " emotions trigger altered states of consciousness just like drugs " and that " each state of mind is like a different wavelength of light. " After the period of relaxation, Pert takes us through the prisms of our chakras, describing them as " beautiful spinning circles of color that move at their own speed, some moving slowly, some moving quickly, as you continue to relax even more. " If our body-mind connection was a guitar, it’s as if we are always damaging the frets, breaking strings, blowing out the amp, and warping the neck. Pert can teach us to treat our instrument with care, love, and respect, and the beautiful music, irresistible to all of our many minds, can't help but follow. -- Regards,
