I did it the 5% way, and felt really good when I was done. In the meantime, over a year and a half ago, my husband lost his job with the family company and lost the family as well! My grandson was diagnosed with brain damage (he is 4 and they originally thought it was autism), my daughter was hospitalized with e.coli, I took a very stressful job to keep the money coming in, etc. I was very happy with myself because I was handling all of this really well, for not being on anti-depressants, and having no panic attacks and very little anxiety. Then this spring I got sick twice; once with very heavy chest feelings; all I could do was lay on the couch and get up and go to work when I really needed to. I was not too productive there! Then I came down with a stomach disorder, and my doctor said it was the flu. (I think she decided this before she even came in to see me) This " flu " lasted for 4-5 weeks and I finally went to a new doctor who tested me for a number of things. As it turns out the blood test was positive for celiac disease. That came out of the blue for me and I have spent the last month changing my entire diet to get rid of the gluten that I now find I am allergic to. My question is this: after a year would I still have withdrawal symptoms? I am so tired most days that I cannot function and honestly, it would be so much easier to get back on anti-depressants which my new doctor has prescribed. He told me yesterday that he saw me suffering too much and why not just take them to make this portion of my life a little easier. I do not want to do this, but really am tired of the tiredness--and don't know what to do. I have started taking magnesium and my diet is better than it has ever been. What else can I do? I seriously do not want to go through all of this again and told him that. He told me to go get counseling and I have an appointment to do that. But really, where is all this exhaustion and fatigue coming from? Am I just dealing with too many things at once? Other people have more serious problems than those described above and yet they carry on and I cannot figure out why I can't do the same. Does anyone have any ideas about what is wrong with me? Connie>> *** Hi Connie. Yes, I know what is happening. You have celiac disease. There is nothing in your description that indicates to me that any of what is happening is connected to withdrawal. It is not uncommon for people to have a problem a couple of years later if active metabolites from the drug(s) get released in the body. This happens when there has been a significant loss of weight or an exercise regimen that is more active than is normally undertaken by the person. The symptoms in this case are very similar to the 1st time around and virtually always contain anxiety as a problematic symptom. Celiac disease is present for some time before it is diagnosed. A number of conditions may be present as a result of the disease. You could be anemic, have various nutrient depletions, you could also be losing bone density. Depression and fatigue are very common symptoms people experience when they are having serious flareups of celiac disease. The heaviness in your chest was because of what was happening in your gut. The flareups can be controlled by controlling your diet. How much do you know about celiac disease? How much did they tell you? This is an autoimmune disease with over 200 symptoms (no one has them all). Are you working with a dietician? Are you having any difficulty sticking to the diet? How much testing did they do and what treatment was recommended? You can help yourself by double-checking your diet (it being " better than ever " still does not necessarily mean it is a good diet). You can also help by taking a full vitamin protocol. You should be on one anyway. See my recommendations to the new people earlier this wek. The title of the post is Drug Withdrawal Basic Guide post #28026. The only reservation I have here is that these particular brands will have to be looked at to see if a person with CD would take them. If you'll respond to my questions I'll be able to help you with this if you would like some help. I've seen people cured from this condition after a year or two.
