Position: Project Coordinator (India) of Evidence for Action (EfA): A UK Department for International Development funded Research Programme Consortium on HIV/AIDS care systems We are looking for Project Coordinator to lead on the Indian arm of a five year Research programme on HIV care and treatment systems. The basic training in clinical epidemiology is required. The contract will be for six months provisionally with a view to be extended for a further four years if the candidate performs satisfactorily during the six month probation period. The person will be employed through the National AIDS Research Institute, however, the proposed research will be predominately based in Goa and Northern Karnataka (where the project will be implemented in collaboration with the Goa State AIDS Control Society) and the candidate will need to travel between Pune and these centres. The goal of the research programme will be to increase knowledge on how to design and implement HIV prevention, treatment and care programmes in resource poor settings. The executive Director will have overall responsibility for the project in India in 1. Developing and implementing the research agenda 2. The communication strategy with key stakeholders and policy makers. 3. Building research capacity in India. The successful candidate will be a person that has substantial experience of community based research, preferably in the area of HIV/AIDs. S/he will have experience of leading the research teams in both quantitative and qualitative data collection. S/he will have analyzed and disseminated research finding in a systematic way including publication in peer reviewed publications. S/he will be non judgmental, understand the role of ethics in research and exhibit excellent communication skills. S/he will have experience of engaging the community in research and communication of evidence to policy makers. S/he will have experience of teaching and training. S/he will have excellent grasp of written and spoken Hindi and English. Experience with statistical packages will be a bonus.
