Nick As you have written: " I take 350mcg=.350mg " the way it is written (with the decimal) " reads " as.. 0.350th of a milligram mg. ie. is a _part of or division_ of one whole milligram. (1.0mg.) 0.350 mcg. (microgram) is just a bit more than one third of a mg. (milligram) If one were a large horse or elephant then, perhaps.. one would be taking mg.'s (milligram's) of thyroxine. But for humans.. mcg.'s (microgram's) will do just fine. We don't want to kill anyone just treat 'em. ______________________________________________ mg., milligram; milligrams Milligram: 1 thousandth of a gram (mg.) 1.0 Microgram; 1 millionth of a gram. It should be written µg However, the difficulties of printing the Greek letter " µ " led to the use of " mcg " . _____________________________________ 0.125mcg of t4 ='s an average dose of thyroxine mcg. = micrograms Two 12.5 mcg. of Cytomel is equal to 0.025 mcg, total. To the left <-- of the decimal point --> 1.000 is valued as a milligram (mg.) (1. milligram plus 0.125 micrograms equals 1.125 milligram(s). Doses of Synthroid greater than 2mcg/kg/day are usually required. " (Dr. Ain) (2mcg. is written as.. 0.002/kg/day) Cytomel is equivalent to four times as much t4. This means that 0.025 mcg Cytomel is equal to 0.100 mcg of thyroxine. If one takes 0.125 mcg of thyroxine together with 0.025 mcg of Cytomel the combined effect would be equal to taking 0.225 mcg of t4 thyroxine, alone.
