Guest guest
Hello to all! I've just joined this list, and am slowly back-reading. And also posting (LOL!) so thought that I had better introduce myself as well. I have known about weston and have read sally fallon's book on traditional cooking. I am also on the paleo list, but inch over more to the fallon viewpoint. My pets are raw-fed, which I guess is sort of " weston for animals " - certainly much better for them than feeding kibble etc. I am canadian and live in the UK on the south coast - my son and I are currently going mad trying to find a source for raw milk that doesn't involve a long journey once a week - the UK apparently considers raw milk " the drink of the devil " , and its not easy to find local producers. I love food and eating as well - I am diabetic and on a very low carb diet, hence not many grains in my diet (sigh!). This is hard knocks for me as my background is eastern european and there's lots of stuff that I should be careful of from the high blood glucose POV. OTOH, the same background means that I am familiar with (and still make) lots of fermented foods. I look forward to sharing recipes. Its rather comical really, my family were either new immigrants or countrifed canadians from the same background - once they escaped the farm, they immediately went for the convenience of the supermarket. But now I'm eating very much like my european ancestors did. For me, all these sorts of groups have givern me the courage to ignore all the " good health " cr*p one has been fed since the seventies - especially the still controversial area of " good oils " vs animal fats. I am eating with a totally clear conscience now. And not surprisingly, my diabetes is much easier to manage. regards from edella
