Guest guest
I was told recently because my daughter drinks so much milk that it can make you anemic? She was very slightly anemic just like one point off last year and she seems to be doing good now. We added more meat to her diet but she drinks ALOT of milk. She is 2 years old. The doctors told me she should only get about 16 ounces of milk a day she gets sometimes more then that. The bad thing is she would rather have that then food sometimes. Guest guest
Here are the two thoughts that come to mind: If she's drinking milk alongside everything, the high calcium levels in the milk may prevent her stomach from becoming acidic enough to absorb the iron (and other minerals which require high acid levels in the stomach). OTOH, If she's drinking milk in between meals she would be increasing her ability to assimilate non-heme iron due to the large amounts of B12 found in milk. IMHO, as long as the milk is consumed away from the iron, she should be just fine. -Lana On Sat, Apr 26, 2008 at 8:42 AM, and < blessedby6children@...> wrote: > I was told recently because my daughter drinks so much milk that it can > make > you anemic? > She was very slightly anemic just like one point off last year and she > seems > to be doing good now.
