Guest guest
---I would also like to wish everyone the happiest of holidays. Thanks to all who sent cards! Bud and I don't usually send any....but I hope that all my friends (more like family, really!) know that they are in my heart, my thoughts, and my prayers. Jeanna, I know you are almost at that wonderful 5 year mark....when's the party????? (actually, I celebrated by buying myself a pair of diamond earrings).I wear them every day to remind myself how fortunate I am to be a survivor, to have the love and support of a wonderful husband, and to have all of you in this group in my life. Whatever holiday you celebrate this season, may it, and the NEW YEAR, be the best, ever!!! Guest guest
For all of you who are planning to spend your holidays in a healthy environment please give yourselves a pat on the back! I liberated myself from that uncomfortable holiday tradition of pretending that all was well with my NADA a while back. About 10 years ago she horribly embarrassed me at a family reunion. I am a complete pacifist but we almost had a physical altercation, and I am pretty sure that I can take her these days! What is it about these people that bring out the worst in us? As far as those of you who have children who aren't getting a chance to know their BPD grandparents, I understand it isn't easy. My daughter is nine and has absolutely NO interest in being near NADA. She intuitively feels unsafe around her. I am sad about that but glad because she doesn't feel like she is missing out on much. I have kept some of the horrible letters etc that my NADA has written to me, and when my daughter is old enough I will let her read them so she can understand why I kept her away. I loved the idea of adopting grandparents! I also love the idea of spending the holidays with friends. Family comes in so many different forms. The best gift we can give our children is to keep them safe from harm.
