Guest guest
It is not safe to start kombucha, or any detoxification protocol, while ttc, pg, or bf. It is safe to continue drinking kombucha in small amounts if you have already been drinking it for awhile- and have theoretically already had significant detox. Guest guest
Desh, The answer to this was posted in another group. If well tolerated then a small amount taken diluted with water, say as little as 1/4 cup, should be safe. It was stated this amount should be of benefit to the mother without to much caffeine or alcohol intake, through out pregnancy and lactation. Guest guest
Well, that is really what I said. Small amounts okay, if already ingested detoxed. It is really dangerous to start any sort of detoxification protocol while pregnant (or possibly so). That's a good way to pull toxins stored in bone and other tissues and plop them right in the fetus, often with terrible results. It takes very little to start moving metals around (among other toxins) and moving them is often disasterous- often they are sequestered by the body somewhere they can do little damage, and then the detoxing substance mobilizes them to where they can do little damage. Ingesting any detoxification substance while pregnant is foolish, starting a new detox substance, doubly so. 'Should benefit' is hogwash- and the use of the conditional tense a warning sign. Unless the poster of the 'should benefit' comment is a ND midwife, who has done hair, urine, breastmilk and blood testing on women before, during, and after kombucha drinking while pregnant, breastfeeding, and not, I would err on the side of caution still would not drink anything minorly detoxifying. Women's bodies behave differently when detoxing- according to their nutritional status and genetic capacity for such. Some babies get mercury poisoning from their mother's fillings, some don't. Women who are toxic with metals report that their nurslings toxicity increases when the mother does anything minorly detoxifying. I would much rather an enciente drink a glass of wine. Guest guest
Desh, Ha! Don't let the diet dictocrats catch you saying that... in their minds that would be abuse to the fetus. -jennifer On Jun 9, 2008, at 4:26 PM, De Bell-Frantz wrote: > I would much rather an enciente drink a glass of wine. > > Desh
