Also I believe root crops are the ones you really need to worry about picking up things like heavy metals. You can find out what's in the water of your zip code or county. This database will also tell you who the biggest sources of pollution are. In my rural community I didn't expect bad things... WRONG! Rural areas have some of the worst water quality due to factory farming.
