Guest guest
Unless you have a sensitivity to jalapenos or chilis in general chipotle shouldn't have caused it. They are just jalepeno peppers that are smoked and dried instead of eaten fresh. I guess the dried part could make them a little hotter due to being more concentrated. - > > I bought some Niman Ranch chipotle bacon without knowing what chipotle > is. Guest guest
LOL! I'm sorry but you just put that so amusingly! Pure capsaicin extract can cause burn blisters, but I've never heard of natural chipotle doing so. -Lana On Tue, Apr 29, 2008 at 8:26 AM, Masterjohn <chrismasterjohn@...> wrote: > I bought some Niman Ranch chipotle bacon without knowing what chipotle > is. Glad to be of service. :-) > Pure capsaicin extract can cause burn blisters, but I've never heard of > natural chipotle doing so. Well if capsaicin can cause burn blisters and capsaicin is in chipotle bacon and chipotle bacon gave me a burn blister in my mouth I would say that it was th ecapsaicin in the chipotle that did it, so now you've heard of such a case. Thanks! :-) Chris
Guest guest
That must be one spicy bacon! I think I'll be steering clear of that. I hope it heals fast, those burns suck. -Lana > Well if capsaicin can cause burn blisters and capsaicin is in chipotle > bacon and chipotle bacon gave me a burn blister in my mouth I would > say that it was th ecapsaicin in the chipotle that did it, so now > you've heard of such a case. > > Thanks! :-) > > Chris >

Well, that or I'm just particularly sensitive to capsaicin (or however you spell it). Now, there is no longer a bump, but the area feels strange, like it is rough and has some tissue damage. This is very interesting to me because I get this exact feeling in the inside of my mouth, usually on my cheeks and sometimes under my tongue, but without the blood blister and without and obvious cause. So now I wonder if exposure to smaller amounts of chemicals that are similar in some structural or functional way to capsaicin are the culprits in the more moderate effect I get sometimes.
