Guest guest
I have taken maca powder. I don't know if it's done anything for me. I have taken so many supplements over the years and there were very few that made discernible differences but at least it didn't make me feel worse. It doesn't taste bad and is supposed to help with sex hormones as well and have minerals etc. --- In , " " <heather_wapf@...> wrote: > > Has anyone eaten Peruvian maca powder? Guest guest
Yes, I use it regularly and yes, I notice a difference when I don't take it. I started taking it to balance my adrenals. I was told to start with 1 tsp a day for a few days, then one teaspoon twice a day for a few days, and continue increasing it by a teaspoon a day " until you have a feeling of well being " . My response to that was " I'm not depressed. " It was a guy who was telling me this and he described the optimal level is when he felt like a he man, he backed off just a bit. The optimal level for me is 1 Tablespoon a day. When I went to 4 teaspoons, I felt like " I am woman. Hear me roar! " Since the adrenals are critical to the function of all hormones, I think it is important to get them balanced before you start working on other hormone-related issues. Although you didn't ask, I had great success putting my horse on it. She is insulin resistant. Since with animals, you either have to do lots of expensive tests or wait until you observe a difference, the advice is to start them on 1 T per day, and add 1 T per day every 6 weeks, up to 4 T per day. The difference was AMAZING! But, it wasn't quite enough, so I started her on cinnamon also, Rou gui and Gui zhi, and that took her all the way. I still have to watch her, but she is no longer on the edge, like she was. Kathy ---- <heather_wapf@...> wrote: ============= Has anyone eaten Peruvian maca powder? I tried Yes, but you need to take it in greater quantities than usually recommended on the bottles of those. So, you need to buy it in bulk. It can be relatively cheap, just dont buy it at Whole Foods or any other retail health food store (where it's expensive). Get it here (1 pound of Maca @ $21.00): http://www.docsprefer.com/Maca.htm -

Guest guest
Ya, me too! $13/lb is much more cost effective when you are feeding it to a horse :-) Kathy ---- crayfishfeed <crayfishfeed@...> wrote: ============= You can also get a lb of it on mountain rose herbs for 13 dollars which is where I got mine and it's organic http://mountainroseherbs.com/search/search.php?keywords=maca+powder > > >> > Has anyone eaten Peruvian maca powder? Guest guest
Good day everyone:Just to chime in on the Maca Powder. I too like it for its adaptogen properties. As it was explained to me it would take my hormones that were too high and lower them and increase the ones that were on the low side. Adrenal support, hormonal imbalances, and just plain old fatigue due to too much stress that is one of its benefits. Some of my friends who were suffering hot flashes and other hormonal issues benefitted from added it to their beverages. Maca has also been cited by Superfood nutritionist/Guru Wolfe to be one of his recommended superfoods along with Goji berries and Reishi mushroom, and others for us to all us but that is another topic for another day. Lol.Thanks for the info. I hope to have time to delve into the material you have provided.Vitamix owner for 1 week. ;-)On May 7, 2010, at 10:59 AM, wrote:http://www.amazon.com/Navitas-Naturals-Gelatinzied-Superfood-7-1-Ounce/dp/B001E5E0XS/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8 & s=grocery & qid=1273244254 & sr=8-
