HIV/AIDS Officer (HAO)

UNFPA helps governments, at their request, to formulate policies and

strategies to reduce poverty and support sustainable development. The

Fund also assists countries to collect and analyze population data

that can help them understand population trends.

In India, UNFPA has helped achieve the following:

(1) Introduce, operationalize and extend the concept of comprehensive

Reproductive Health (RH) services beyond family planning and maternal

and child health care

(2) Emphasize the importance of quality of RH services provided to

clients

(3) Move towards informed client choice for contraceptive acceptance,

away from family planning targets and quotas

(4) Facilitate decentralization of services to the district level

(5) Mainstream gender concerns in RH activities and interventions,

etc.

Location: Delhi,

Job Description: Key responsibilities of the HIV/AIDS Officer shall include:

(1) Formulating strategy, policy and programme interventions in areas

of convergence of the RCH and National AIDS Control Programmes

(2) Providing programmatic and technical assistance in developing

proposals and conducting field visits for monitoring progress and

initiating corrections

(3) Backstopping the programme for Prevention of HIV/AIDS as per

UNAIDS division of labor matrix

(4) Developing linkages with internal and external counterparts viz.

Internal: RH Programme Unit, Technical Support Group, State Offices,

HR & Finance and other UN Agencies and External: Government and Civil

Societies.
