I was the extremely lucky winner of PSTC's very special round-trip air fare

ticket to ANYWHERE in the USA offered at one of their classes at last

year's APCO Conference, and I'm " spending " it on air-fare to Nashville this

year. (Don't ever let anybody say that things don't happen for a reason; I

would not have been able to attend this one if I hadn't won that prize. I

have always funded my APCO Conference excursions with overtime - five

months without any overtime has subjected my 2002 APCO jaunt to a major

budget crunch.)

I'm taking my Console shirt and sweatshirt, despite the weather forecast.

(Okay, so maybe I'll carry 'em around instead of wearing 'em.)

I'll have some of the patriotic headset pins I designed and a few 9-1-1

headset pins some of y'all may have seen on eBay to sell and/or trade, as

the case may be. Plus a few special pins from my agency for VERY special

friends.... Not much else in the way of goodies, though. (I hope to pick

up a slew of vendor freebies to bring back as wee gifts for my dispatchers.)

Not that I'm much of a C & W fan, but I couldn't resist opting for one of

those Saturday night concert tickets - I think it will be a gas to be a

part of a SIXTY-member PSTC-and-other-communications-list-members

foot-stompin' clump!

So, my little Comm Center and, incidentally, the Break Room will be

represented. Yup, I'll be bringing my digital camera and posting photos

when I get back home... as well as nattering (as usual) to the list with

chatty- posts via my trusty lap-top. ;-)

I can't imagine anyone wearing a sweatshirt in

Nashville during August. I suppose you could attach a

stick to it and make yourself a flag.

Once again, even though I'm only 30 miles away, I won't be attending, there

is no rest for the wicked so I guess I will be punished. Opryland is a

beautiful place as is the rest of the mid-state area. I again want to extend

an open invitation to everyone coming to the conference to visit my " little

com center wink to " . I will be working evenings 1400-2200 except for

thursday where I get a 1700-0100. Anyone wishing to visit contact me off

photographer " You will see many many many pic's posted to her website after

the conference !! So, be careful those who are there.. You never know where

Plan to go to the Attendee Welcome Party on Sunday night, for sure. We

normally look for each other there, that first night. Last couple of

years, APCO made special stickers for our ID badges so we could recognize

another PSTC or 9-1-1Console member by looking for those tags. Maybe

somebody will have arranged for that again. <fingers crossed>

just one correction...PSTC paid and organized the stickers for the last two

years. Ort- at APCO was kind enough to set aside and area for

us and have some freebies. I'm not sure if anyone contacted Kath this year

and by now, everyone from APCO HQ is at Opry - anyone on the console and Team

Apco? Maybe they can drop a dime
