Hi,

If you please, what kind of foot practitioner was this person? And what kind

of color consistency is being determined & where?

Curious, Jim

this type of detoxing. A dear friend of mine did this with an alternative

practitioner and had all sorts of gross stuff come out, and the practitioner

was able to tell her based off of the colors and consistencies what it was

that was coming out.

Anyone else have any information, pro or con, on if this actually works and

how to tell what is in the water? I was particularly curious, since it

mentions removing toxins from lymph, but lymph always flows towards the

heart, so I wasn't sure what to think.

She did colonics and quite a few other treatments, she wasn't just limited

to this treatment. I've contacted my friend who had it done to get the

specifics and will post again when she replies.

The color and consistency is what comes out in the water. This is the foot

Hi,

Thanks so much for the link, I have always found the negative ion influences

fascinating.

My family and myself are doing foot detoxing with NAET. You would be

amazed(or grossed out) at the 'stuff' that comes out of your body

through this.

But, how do you know what is really coming out? Recently there was a news

story debunking this (NOT that I believe what I hear in the news!). And a

friend who owns one says that in a certain town, the water is always the

same color.

I'm not discounting the concept, but I'm a little skeptical. Also, I thought

the toxin cleansing organs were the kidneys and liver, and eliminating

organs were ALL of the skin, bladder, and bowels.

When this treatment was first proposed to me by a chiropractor years

ago, it didn't sit well with my intuition at all, just like the

special waters didn't. I did a search on the internet and I found this

website useful http://www.chem1.com/CQ/FootBathBunk.html

I do, however, feel the placebo effect is very credible and important.

If someone told me they had measurable benefits and effects from using

this modality, I wouldn't doubt it. What matters most is feeling

better but I just could never give this thing permission to help me.

I'm hesitant to trust that website, since it contains some errors and sites

quackwatch as a reliable source.

Yes I did notice that, the very same quackwatch that has some Weston

price affiliated doctors on there, but it doesn't mean he doesn't

break down what does or doesn't happen with water in a scientific way.

I pay attention to the chemistry part because he is a chemist and

leave the rest of his prejudices behind. In the end people believe

what they believe and there is always going to be some " proof " we are

going to find out there to align with whatever our belief system is.

I just don't see how the whole foot detox thing is possible but again

for those it helps, they could probably care less how it works as long

as it works! But it's good to have a website that creates polarity so

a person can see both sides of the argument. Most practitioners when

presenting a modality don't take the time out to discuss both sides of

something. I feel strongly about taking the time to look at both

sides when a modality is presented to me since I have been hurt enough

time by listening to doctors and chiropractors.

I have to second you on quackwatch as well as foot detoxing. I am

skeptical of quackwatch's cynicism toward homeopathy and alternative

healing. Certainly, quackwatch tends to the extreme, but I think there

is some value in the information shared on that particular website. In

particular, he challenges one to question, which I believe is

necessary in our day and age.

The detoxing through the feet thing seems to feed into a compulsion to

become 'toxin free'. The research I've found indicates that reason the

water turns yucky is due to a chemical reaction of the metal, energy

current and water. I used to do ear candling until I did an experiment

with it (as recommended by quackwatch, mind you) and discovered that

it is also completely bogus, not to mention potentially harmful. Yet,

folks swear by it...even upon learning the truth about it.

We can get so caught up in getting our 'nutrition' fix or 'toxin-free'

fix that we lose touch with what is real. Balance is just as important

(if not more) as eating habits or exercise. There is no shortage of

advertising, marketing and economy that cashes in on fear. We are

surrounded by it and permeated with it. Yet, I think we have a certain

responsibility to question the obvious, to dig deeper.

Sumner,

Thanks for that clarification of the various treatment modalities. FYI,

natural hygiene would completely agree with you that most treatments are much

too invasive & complicate the innate healing process already in check.

I don't know whether foot spas work or not. But the skin may well detox

more through the feet, based on the number of sweat glands there.

What I do know, is that detoxification schemes are dangerous, because

they mobilize metals from where they may be encapsulated in your body,

and while they are bouncing around, they could theoretically do more

damage. So you need to be at bowel tolerance for vitamin C, and up on

your zinc for metallothionen promotion and selenium for glutathione- in

other words, get a handle on all your detoxification pathways before

pulling metals from where they are stored. Better in the bones than in

the brain. . . .

We are doing edible clay next.

I thought that quackwatch was run by the pharma beasts. . . is it on

sourcewatch.org or similar?

Hi Desh,

Thanks for the insight, reminds me of heavy metals. Theoretically there could

be many dangers, to date I know of few associated with negative ions? Maybe you

know some of the dangers that I am unaware of to date. Ion therapy is against my

age old belief in natural hygiene but is worth speculating as a reference point

& to help objectify my thinking commensurate with the times.

FWIW, dogs " sweat " primarily through their paws and tongue. Perhaps humans

have more sweat glands there for the same reason (whatever it may be) that

dogs do.

Desh,

Could you share some of your knowledge about mineral supplementation during

detox or maybe what resources you learned this stuff from. Its very

interesting!

Thanks,

Barrett, MD, appears to have some profound credibility issues.

It seems he has made it a practice to go around filing lawsuits

against doctors who practice any therapy he disagrees with. He had one

bond of over $400,000 placed against him for bringing a frivolous

defamation lawsuit. The courts have said he is decidedly not an expert

and he no longer holds any medical license.

IMO, being on quackwatch could very well be a badge of honor, because

it probably means you are doing something right which of course

threatens the status quo, LOL!

I know of people who look on quackwatch just to find alternative

treatments - if Barrett is against it, it must be good! LOL!

Have you seen the counter-website - quackpotwatch.org ? Pretty funny!
