Guest guest Posted August 16, 2007 Report Share Posted August 16, 2007 Job Posting - Executive Director, Hyderabad Executive Director, Alliance for AIDS Action Supporting community action on AIDS in Andhra Pradesh The India HIV/AIDS Alliance is a respected and widely recognised, not-for-profit organisation, working in the field of HIV/AIDS, with a regional unit in Hyderabad and a National Secretariat in Delhi. As part of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance which supports community- led programmes in over 25 countries worldwide, Alliance India currently works with over 100 NGO partners across 6 states, with a large presence in Andhra Pradesh. The Alliance envisions a world in which people do not die of AIDS. In such a world, communities have brought HIV/AIDS under control and all people, regardless of their gender, religion, class, caste, race, ethnicity or sexual orientation, have access to easy, affordable and appropriate prevention, care and support and treatment services, backed up by an unbiased system of justice. The position of Executive Director is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional at senior level, who has a strong commitment to development work that supports the most vulnerable or marginalised populations in the community. Responsibilities: • To ensure effective management and operational systems and effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the organization • To ensure effective planning, strategy development and implementation of programmes and projects in AP • To manage key institutional relationships and advocate the mission, goals and strategies of the organization to a range of target audiences and institutions in India • To manage the development and implementation of advocacy work for the programmes in AP. • To maintain and develop the funding base for the organizations programmes. Must Haves: • Strong commitment to the issue of HIV AIDS, sexual and reproductive rights. • 10-15 years of progressively responsible senior management experience in the development sector, especially in the health sector. • Extensive experience in participatory programme development functions - strategic planning, management and oversight of successful implementation. • Leadership and ability to manage multi-disciplinary staff and financial resources. • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of principles of partnership, NGO support and management of donor relations. Strong Ability to interact with people/ stakeholders from a range of different backgrounds and in different hierarchical positions. • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
