I've never had any last that long (and I tend to forget jars in the back

of the fridge). It may still be potent, but it doesn't taste as good.

How long it lasts depends on its initial potency, and your fridge

temperature, etc. I have tested some older whey before by putting a

healthy slug in a small amount of foodstuffs to see if it would ferment,

and nada. But it seems some has lasted a couple months, unnoticed in the

back of one fridge or another.
