He suggested going to a Dr, and having them pop the Boil and drain/dress the wound. I don't HAVE a Dr. And I don't want to Pay $100 at the Urgent Cares around here. The Pharmacist did say that I can " do it on your own, but it will be PAINFUL " . Yikes! The money is NOT the issue. I mean sure, I hate for my husband to spend that $$$ on a Dr, but if y'all REALLY thing a Dr is the best choice..... Thanks for your help! Guest guest
What I would do.... Sterilize a sewing needle by dipping in rubbing alcohol and passing through a flame. Lance the boil and drain it. Sit in a heavily salted (2c. or so) epsom salt bath for 10-20 minutes. Put some sort of salve on the spot afterwards - aloe vera gel works nicely, tea tree oil or an iodine source (atomidine, for example) if you have it and are brave (both of these will HURT!). -jennifer On May 27, 2008, at 7:40 PM, Mrs Bernstein wrote: > Good Evening! > For about a week, I have had a " spot " brewing on my bottom. She had a boil on her backside, deep enough under the surface where she just couldn't get at it. So she remembered the hard-boiled egg in a bottle trick from Mr. Wizard. (you tube example: ) She thought if she heated a bottle with the right size neck, she would suck the boil right to the surface so it could clear. Then she heated a New York Seltzer glass bottle, oiled up the skin and the bottle, and placed the neck of the bottle over the boil. But it was a little too hot and then the vacuum formed immediately as the bottle cooled. A giant finger-shaped hunk of backside came into the bottle and started to grow. She couldn't remove the bottle (still too hot) and the skin was really stuck in there. So she lay on the bed for 7 hours, with bare bottom and bottle exposed to the air, waiting for everything to cool down. The boil didn't burst. Two days later it had gotten even worse so she ended up at the doc's. He said, hm, " I've never seen a boil like this. It's like it has this perfect circle of 2d degree burn around it? " she told him the truth. After he quit laughing the doc said, if the boil is staph or something it not only can be lanced but some anti-infection drugs might help. Guest guest
> > Good Evening! > For about a week, I have had a " spot " brewing on my bottom. Hi Mrs Bernstein, There are several natural remedies you might consider trying to help heal your boil: ~ Raw Manuka honey (or any raw honey) may be applied directly to the wound and covered with a sterile bandage. Raw honey is an ancient remedy that has powerful antibacterial and healing properties. http://www.manukahoneyblog.com/2008/03/manuka-honey-heals-wounds-clears.html ~ Bentonite clay is another substance renowned for its healing and antibacterial effects. Applying hydrated clay to wounds draws out infection while easing pain and speeding the healing process. Some people also add colloidal silver to clay to increase its healing abilities. Powdered clay can also be dissolved in bath water, and is very soothing and therapeutic for soaking, especially when combined with some natural salt and/or epsom salts. http://eytonsearth.org/using-clay-externally.php ~ Turmeric can be taken internally and/or applied externally (mixed with a little water to make a paste) to wounds to reduce infection and accelerate healing. http://www.turmeric.co.in/turmeric_ayurvedic_use.htm ~ Iodine can be applied to the wound to prevent infection and speed healing. ~ Hydrogen peroxide can help with keeping the wound clean These and many more remedies for boils are listed here: http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/boils.html HTH and that you feel better soon! elan
Guest guest
I have lanced boils on friends and myself in similar fashion to the above instructions with soaking and iodine, etc. But easier is megadosing sodium ascorbate when you feel that one might be developing. It would probably help now that the situation is more acute, too. Desh

I agree, don't try this at home! I'm afraid that I'm an expert on boils - I am diabetic, and before my blood sugars were normalised, I was very prone to boils, occasionally under the arms but usually on the nether regions. These are perfect areas as they are warm and moist. My advice is to " bite the bullet " and go to a doctor. If its on the bum where you sit, its not so terrible, but if its on the buttock almost between your legs, you have the risk of all sorts of complications. The infection can spread in a very serious way. The doctor will probably lance it and give you antibiotics to kill the infection. If you are already feeling tenderness behind the ear in your lymph nodes, then you do have an ongoing inferction, and you really want to see a doctor - I personally would not be too alternative and take the antibiotics if offered - this is precisely what they were invented for. I am very careful about using cotton underwear, keeping scrupulously clean down there, especially in hot weather, and making sure my blood sugar is normal - so far no reoccurence - but its not something to mess around with, that's for sure! You can eat all the best food in the world, but alas, this is the kind of bacterial infection that killed our ancestors - I agree about the many misuses of antibiotics, but we should not forget what a blessing they can also be. regards from edella
Guest guest
The one I lanced for my friend was right on the line of her pubic hair, so theoretically likely to get infected. She had no trouble with infection, but we were young (21). She did not have the delayed wound healing of a diabetic, however, she was anorexic (as healthy as any tall woman can be at 90 or so pounds, eh).
