Guest guest
The baby will be exposed to the same recirculated pathogenic air as everyone else. Hopefully by then her immune system will be good and strong. The old saying is " fly on Tuesday, sick on Saturday. " Sorry to be bleak, but the possibility of sickness is always a bit of a higher risk with flying. I also learned in a nutrition class that one hour of air flight is the equivilent of 25 xrays worth of (cosmic) radiation. The teacher, a frequent flyer, was adamant about fermented foods detoxifing the body. <><
Guest guest
I don't have personal experience, but there is a mother in my LLL group who has flown with her tiny baby. She said that the key is just to nurse on takeoff and landing (and all the time in between). The mother will make antibodies, and the baby will get them in her milk. Many moms (myself included) make sure to touch everything that the infant touches (shared toys, etc), so that we will begin to make antibodies to anything they are exposed to right away. Guest guest
If it were me, I would wait to travel until 2 months. I don't have any scientific reason for that. I just know that after I had a baby, I didn't feel like myself again until about 2 months after the birth. I traveled with my baby at 3 months and it was easy. Nursing on takeoff helps with the air pressure. Going to China is risky with such a small baby. If it were me, I would absolutely get on therapeutic-grade probiotics. If the baby is breastfed, it will have immunity built up from all the probiotics in the breast milk. However, the probiotics in the breast milk are only as good as the probiotics in the mom. I would suggest ordering some BioKult and have the mother start taking it now -- or as early as they can before they travel (since they need to have the BioKult shipped). If they are on it for a month or so, that should be sufficient. Order enough for the whole trip and have the whole family take it -- it will help them all with immunity -- and it will greatly increase the probiotics in the mom's milk. She can also sprinkle some of the powder on her breasts so the baby gets some directly. I just posted about this on another thread -- most commercial brands of probiotics do not work. The only ones I know of that actually work are BioKult and ThreeLac, both available online. BioKult is available here: http://guthealth.info/ I bought ThreeLac here: http://www.rainbowminerals.net/candida.htm Ann Marie
Guest guest
Another thing to consider outside of pathogens is toxins - air fresheners, perfumes, insecticides, mercury from people's mouthes and the fluorescent lights and who knows what other heavy metals are circulating... Personally, I'd wait at least another month. China is an extremely long trip! -Lana On Jan 25, 2008 7:48 AM, / Colyn<>< <jadegarden96@...> wrote: > The baby will be exposed to the same recirculated pathogenic air as everyone else. Guest guest
Why is it key during the takeoff and landing. I understand the importance of 'all the time in between'. Guest guest
Thanks Ann Marie I gave them the info on probiotics. They said they are on Garden of Life Primal Defense Ultra - 6 capsules a day, with 13 diff strains. http://gardenoflife.com/detail_primal_defense_ultra.shtml Do you think that this is good enough or should they try BioKult also. They did not know about BioKult or ThreeLac. If it is very superior to the GoL product, they will try them, instead. Thanks -Dan. > > If it were me, I would wait to travel until 2 months. Guest guest
Well my WAPF chapter leader said recently that she thinks Garden of Life has gone downhill lately due to change of ownership so she no longer recommends their products. I have never tried Garden of Life probiotics so I don't know. I have not done a comparison of these brands. However, I do believe ThreeLac and BioKult are superior, yes. I took a HFS brand probiotic after I was trying to clear up candida from taking the pill. It did nothigng for me -- no change in symptoms. Then I started on ThreeLac and within 3 days, the sores in my nose which would not heal had cleared up. That convinced me that there is a huge difference between brands. I've since switched to BioKult -- I really trust Dr. -McBride and think her probiotic has got to be one of the very best on the market. Guest guest
I dont know if this is the reason the other person recommended it, but for me with my 2 boys it always prevented them from getting pain in the ears from take off and landing, the simple act of swallowing presumably helps, Josie > > > > I don't have personal experience, but there is a mother in my LLL > group > > who has flown with her tiny baby. Guest guest
during nursing, the baby will be swallowing which will help with the change in pressure in the baby's ears. kind of like when they tell people to chew gum during takeoff and landing. > > > > I don't have personal experience, but there is a mother in my LLL > group > > who has flown with her tiny baby.
