Like it or not in either of these situations there is inescapable feedback on one's character and choices...There is a built in reality gauge in living in an intimate vowed relationship that cannot be simulated otherwise. -Anonymous

I just got it and am going to take some before pictures and start the plan and see what happens. Can't help but be a little impressed with Colpo's ab shot, which he claims is in the middle of the winter with no special training or camera tricks etc (he's even wearing a winter hat to prove it :-P). I'd probably want one or two more percent bodyfat than he does, but I'd still be ridiculously ripped even at that point. Chris
Guest guest
With respect to the previous discussion about abs and losing bodyfat, and with respect to this thread, I just posted " before " pics in the album " M -- Fat Loss Bible Results. " I'm using these pics for before-and-afters for a review I'm going to do of the book on my site. They are not terribly great quality, in part because I'm using a camera-phone (actually really good camera on it though) but mostly because the lighting is crap here, but they are good enough I think. According to my Accu-Measure calipers which are supposed to be within 1.1% of underwater weighing even when self-used, my body fat is roughly 14.6%, which is within " ideal " but is definitely not " lean " for the references rages they give taking into account my age and weight. And it is FAR from what folks say is necessary to see abs. As you can see from the pics, you can see faint traces of a six-pack when my muscles are not contracted and modest definition when they are. So, I guess in a month or two I'll post my progress, as I'm going to try Colpo's plan, starting, well, starting yesterday. Chris

I know Colpo's diet is low-carb but what are the other tenets of the his fat-loss plan? What does winter have to do with ab fat? (And FWIW, Colpo lives in Melbourne, where the winters are very mild by northern US standards.) Tom

Insulin is needed to put on fat and most mammals put on fat for the winter.
Guest guest
Tom, > Looking forward to your results. I know Colpo's diet is low-carb but > what are the other tenets of the his fat-loss plan? It's basically low-carb, but he allows more after intense exercise. So the basal amount of carbs is 100 g max, but for very intense exercise he allows an additional amount after exercise that's even more than that. The basic tenets are that calorie restriction is the main if not only determinant of weight loss and that exercise routine and protein intake are the main determinants of body composition and the composition of the weight loss. > What does winter have to do with ab fat? (And FWIW, Colpo lives in > Melbourne, where the winters are very mild by northern US standards.) Most people who are composition-conscious tend to diet down more in the summer to show off their " beach body. " And people into gaining muscle tend to get fatter in the winter because they are eating more to bulk up and don't have to take their shirt off.
