Guest guest
Hey - I have not yet taken any antidepressants for vulvodynia or anything else- I asked my therapist about them once (as vulvodynia treatment) and she said that ones that cause constipation and vaginal dryness do so because they dehydrate you. So drinking lots and lots of water would help. Again, not the voice of experience, but all I know of the subject Later Misty
Guest guest
, Yes, I did have constipation for the first week and I was only on 300 mg/day for the 1st week. It is less likely - I believ only 1% of the patients get this side effect. I think as your body gets used to it, it goes away. Like I said, it took me a week for it to go away - it also made me feel sleepy and less coordinated - stumbling out of bed. I didn't know neurontin was used for mood swings - that seems odd to me. The doctor put me on Nurontin to help stableize my moods for the time being (I'm not planning to stay on it long term). Can any of you gals who have used it in the past tell me whether or not it is going to give me any additional troubles with constipation? Thats a serious conciern of mine. He said that it would be less likely to give me constipation then regular mood stablizers would, but constipation is still listed as one of the side effects. I will be on a really low dose of it, but I am still concierned. Any thoughts? > > Bunny /| |\ > . . > ( ! )Get more from the Web. Guest guest
, according to the information at rxlist.com, during clinical trials, 1.5% of the people getting Neurontin reported constipation (but so did .8% of the people getting the placebo). Bear in mind that the clinical trials were conducted on epileptics who *added* Neurontin to their other epilepsy meds., so I don't know what the inter-active effect may have been, with regard to *that* causing constipation. I don't know about you, but I always seem to fall into those small percentage groups! LOL When I took Diflucan after my flu shot in December, I got a short dose of horrific diarrhea. I looked up the clinical trials information on Diflucan, and sure enough, only 3% of the people who received Diflucan in the trials reported diarrhea. It figures.
