Guest guest
Hi, Rohan had three days of pamidronate infusion for his osteoporosis. The hospital stay was OK. The only problem was Rohan's arm swelling up a bit and veins showing up red after the first day, but they used the same input for the next day too, as his veins are difficult for putting needles in etc. They had to use the other arm the next day! The first one is still sore. The endo dr. said his back would hurt a bit more for a few days and to give him paracetamol. In fact they gave him some even before the treatment was started. He had a temperature on the 2nd day- again an expected side effect. We were also asked to double his calcium intake for those three days and three days after that too. BTW his blood ketones were 7.45 (before treatment) and I was surprised as I thought he was acidic. The intern requesting the tests said they couldn't actually do the ketone level of the blood. A surprise is that Rohan's ketones after coming home are much higher. 4 and 8 AM and PM., instead of 0.5 & 1.5. I don't think it's due to the extra calcium he's still having, as previously we found that it did the opposite. Will keep you updated as Rohan seems to be the first here, to undergo this treatment. A Happy Christmas to all. Saro
