Dawn,

Dr Mercola has a detailed EFT guide that starts here:

By far and away the best source of vitamins is liver. If you don't

like liver, but don't utterly detest it, you might try ordering North

Star Bison's buffalo liver which has a very mild taste that should be

suitable for folks who don't love it.

One of the most helpful things in preventing autoimmune disorder is

eating a low-PUFA diet. That means making butter and/or coconut oil

your main fat, using macadamia nut oil instead of olive oil if you can

afford it, using palm oil in small amounts, limiting the use of olive

oil and pork fat, and avoiding other vegetable oils entirely. This

would help increase sensitivity to thyroid hormone also.

How are your vitamins A and D levels?

I haven't had it in years and years. I buy it from the farmer but can't

make myself cook it. Bad memories from youth! What is the best recipe to

start with to try and get over this? I have the NT cookbook.

I had some froie gras at this really nice restaurant we went to celebrate

our marriage, DH and me.. too!. The flavor was fine but the texture

really made me.. bleh. I had to eat a tiny bit of it with my fish and then

it was delicious! =)

I will have to give your idea a try. Where do you order it? Just Google the

name?

Really?? I read that PUFA wasn't helping my weight problems either. I

eliminated just about everything except olive oil and I do eat a fair amount

of nuts. When I don't cook, which around here happens a lot, then I'm

eating all kinds of nasties though I try to limit them. We are finally

getting out on our own, house is set to close next week sometime. Then I

can get back 100% on my diet.

God awful. I had myself taking CLO from Green Pastures but when I threw up

after taking the liquid while having morning sickness it hasn't been sitting

well since. I am going to try the capsules I guess but I have to take a lot

of them to get what Sally Fallon recommended to me for my situation.

Thanks for your help.

Personally, I just slice it thin and sautee it in butter for less than

a minute and eat it like that.

However, I would say that it goes best with bacon fat, onions and

garlic. So start off with a healthy liver that looks and smells very

fresh, cook a couple pieces of bacon, then partially cook some onions

and garlic in the fat, and then throw in the liver, cut thinly, and

cook it just enough to brown it on all sides. Throw pieces of bacon

on top. That should do it.

NT has directions for something similar with carmelizing the onions

but I never really thought it was worth the effort.

At the WAPF conference two years ago I discovered liver pate goes well

with ... *drumroll*... whipped cream! They had it for the cheesecake

but I mixed it together and it was really good. :-)

I've never had froie gras.

That would work, but their URL is http://www.northstarbison.com.

Most nuts are really high in PUFA, but macadamia nuts are ok.

Deficiencies of fat-soluble vitamins seem to be involved in the

development of autoimmune disorders. Personally, I would set as an

ideal goal to try to limit PUFA from nuts and olive oil and use about

a teaspoon or 3/4 tsp CLO and try to get A and D from liver and

sunshine when possible. Also, the fermented skate liver oil appears

to be very high in D while fairly low in PUFA.

I eat palm oil on a regular basis. It is loaded with nutrients. I don't

cook with it but eat a tablespoon of it for my B vitamins.

Dawn, I bought some frozen liver last year from Debbie with

Bandera Grass-Fed Meats at the Sunset Valley farmers market. I don't

much care for it plain either. I found mixing it with other meat

worked well. I cooked it and then mixed it with other meat when

eating. I've heard other people say that they mince it and mix it

into ground meats before cooking, though I haven't tried that. I've

heard that's a good way to sneak it into kid's food.

Thanks, . Those are great ideas. I need to get the DH to eat it too

and he wont' even CONSIDER it. Of course if his burger or whatnot is tastie

and then I tell him there's liver in it he'll be fine with it. If I do that

to my brother or mom they won't eat anything I cook again! =)

Neither of them will even try lamb so I made lamb burgers. " This is so

goooood!!! " .

I cook with it but I've been out for awhile. I love the tropical traditions

stuff. I usually put palm oil and coconut oil I things when I cook.

I have discovered that liverwurst is excellent when mixed with a little raw

cream and raw butter. It makes it creamier and more spreadable on bread or

crackers.

Of course, I like liverwurst to begin with. Braunschweiger, too. Good

memories from childhood. :-)

I buy the liverwurst and Braunschweiger here:

I love the flavor and texture, but I don't digest it too well. In

small amounts I do OK with it, maybe a tablespoon a day or less.
