Guest guest
no. Wheat Germ What do you all think of wheat germ (if you think of it at all)? 2 Tbs. contain 50 cals, 1 gram fat, 6 grams carb (3 fiber, 0 sugar) and 3 grams protein. I've been sprinkling 2 T. on 2/3 c. low-fat cottage cheese along with 1 cup chopped strawberries (stats: 225 cals, 4.5 grams fat, 22 grams carbs, 6 of them fiber, 22 grams protein). Sounds pretty good, doesn't it?

Guest guest
It is an awfully small volume of food for 50 calories. Does it help you feel more full? I know that it's great for your system, but if it leaves me feeling deprived I'd not use it. by the way, you didn't count the fiber in the strawberries. There is a sign up at the club that says a serving of raspberries has more fiber than a serving of brown rice. Ymmm....raspberries! Guest guest
Alys, The cal count is a bit high for 2 T., but I love the nuttiness and crunch that it brings to the cottage cheese. I only eat it every once in a while. Dani > It is an awfully small volume of food for 50 calories. Does it help > you feel more full? Guest guest
Hey, if it makes you happy with your food, and does not throw off your balance, go for it! It is supposed to be increadibly good for you. Maybe I'll give it a try sometime. Alys

Guest guest
Hey Rita, Missed you! I actually really like the wheat germ. The great thing about it is that I can eat 2 T. sprinkled on my cottage cheese and stop, vs. eating a handful of almonds and then another one and another one....You get the picture. Nuts (including peanut butter) do me in! Guest guest
Hey Dani ... Sorry I had to delete so many before I could answer again. I had a wonderful time with the kids but did awful with my eating. TG I am home again and I can start a new! Didn't even weigh myself. :-( Spent too much time eating at pizzerias, etc. The plan was always to go to a diner but ... the plans went awry! lol Okay eat wheat germ if you want ... for crunch I use Fiber One. Guest guest
Rita, Eating out is a major trigger for me, too. I try not to do it anymore. It's actually easier for me to eat out and have a non-free meal, because then I just have grilled chicken or fish and half a sweet potato with a salad. Yesterday I went out for a free meal and ended up eating fettucine alfredo with garlic rolls and tiramisu for dessert. Could I have picked anything worse? I think not. I feel terrible today, bloated and guilty. Definitely don't weigh yourself for a couple of days. I avoid the scale like the plague after free meals. Take away When we want to eat out, we just get take away. It seems to help the urges to eat too much and I can always just stick it in the fridge or freezer for another time. Guest guest
That sounds like a good free meal tho ... its not the worst thing in the world .... believe me I could do much worse (and I DID do worse this weekend!) Guest guest
OH, it was good, so, so, so good! I LOVE fettucine alfredo, and tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts. But what could possibly be worse? I guess eating six helpings of tiramisu The problem with the free meal is that it doesn't really satisfy me; instead, it just makes me want to eat more; it triggers my binge reflex. I seriously think I'm going to give up on even having the one free meal a week. It's so hard for me to refocus the next day. For example, today is not my free day, but I made only a half-hearted effort at eating well. I had granola for breakfast, for one, and I felt sluggish during my work out, definitely not hitting my 10s. I hate it. Guest guest
I know what you mean Dani ... believe me. I should never have gone to my niece's house last Thursday - we were babysitting her grandchildren and she had loads of junk food in the house - plus what do you think these kids eat? Chicken nuggets, fries, pizza ... ugh! I not only indulged I binged!!! Even to sneaking candy late at night. And when I got home I was even worse - I went to the store and bought chips and candy. Okay ... its over as of tonight. There isn't anything left now and first thing tomorrow I will go to the gym. I didn't even drink water so now I'm all bloated. UGH UGH UGH!!! Guest guest
I know if you create a new thread it won't show up immediately after you send it so don't get antsy and hit send again, but surely you can change your email options or settings within the email program. Never had this prob before. Hope it works out but don't worry about a duplicate. If it is an exact duplicate it will get deleted by the housekeeping committee. Guest guest
Who says we shouldn't? I eat raw wheat germ daily. It's rich in vitamin E, vitamin Bs , calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. Of course, it has to be fresh. Rancid wheat germ is for the birds. Andy Re: Wheat Germ Does anyone know why we should not have wheat germ?
